Has anyone tried Bob's do it yourself MCR crimping kit for the interconnect cables or made a standard connector with a molex .100 shell?

But that would make them plug straight in and not be the right-angle connectors, correct?

The right-angle connectors barely fit and in my case one of his 25x2 connectors wouldn't fit and I had to stick with my original or start shaving off stuff.

So if the 25x2 right angle connector doesn't fit in one place will the 1x24 standard straight in molex connector fit in that tight spot? Anyone have any idea? The boardset is Spy Hunter and it's one of the ones that are troublesome with Bob's 2x25 cables.

man I couldn't get myself to buy those yet.

but I feel your pain, when I was working on a tapper set, I spent 30 minutes to an hour shaving the plastic edges of those connectors.

i used samtec cables, but there pricey. search the forums for part numbers.

You pay with money or time.

All The people who said they would make cheap and easy cables to replace the MCR board interconnects have failed so far. That's why Bob Roberts is still selling the SCSI cables to replace the MCRs.

But as we have all discovered there is difficulties fitting them on the boards sets, particularly with those metal plates in between.

:-(

Yeah, the DOT boardsets are a pain to replace becuase they use the metal standoffs with a wider diameter the leaves less room for the connectors. Luckily, I have a bench sander with a grinding wheel and I just sanded them down to fit. On some of them, I had to sand down to past where the plastic snap connects the two halves, so they popped open. I just superglued them back together. It took longer for the glue to dry than to sand them down.
