For the record, I am not a football fan, and never played Atari football. I don't know if this is rare or not. However, given the preservation aspect of the forum, I felt I had to at least bring it to the attention of @mclemore.

I'm nearby and can pick this up and ship it out to assist.

Not a football fan either, but this is definitely interesting. Seems almost as if they made the cp out of just layers of laser cut wood instead of making an actual box.

Not sure. Here is what I was able to get from the buyer:
The regular cocktail 4 player X's and O's measures 31 1/2" wide x 53" long, and the possible prototype is 29 3/4" wide x 48 1/2" long.
The regular cocktail is a little taller as well.

If anyone is interested, I can pick it up and ship it to you if you buy it. This guy doesn't ship. Or if you want to come by later and pick it up, I can hold it in my garage for your pickup. I do have a Fastenall in town as well.

@mclemore noted that the stripes around the unit are reduced, but he may have seen that before. (Less stripes on the possible prototype than the standard one). The condition around the track balls on the right hand side is pretty rough (rusty) as you can see in the pictures.

It's packed into a storage unit. I'll try to grab some more pictures if nobody jumps on this when I go out to make my pickup on 9/3.

If you are interested, let the seller know on eBay and let me know so I can plan accordingly. As much as I love Atari stuff, I have no love for this game :( and won't be going after it, so you don't have to worry about a bidding war with me. It doesn't play in space and/or shoot things.

Whalers9 here.

That guys "proto" cab looks to be the same dimensions as the one I have listed.

Where's he getting his "proto" info from? It is clearly different from the standard version but I dunno about "proto."

A note from the seller - prices have dropped.

"My starting bid on the football is $ and $(check ebay) for the prototype. Instead I'd be willing to take/accept $1,700 for both ($50 off the one and $100 off the other) in order to leave some room and whatever else more one may be willing to pay. I thought it would be necessary to offer both games together in order to use the one as parts to restore the other, obviously the prototype. In case you may know of anyone interested, I wanted to leave some room in order to make it worthwhile for you to inquire with your resources/contacts."

Anyone interested?

He heard it was a prototype from the southern Illinois operator he bought the games from.
