I'm sure someone has gone farther, but maybe I'm in the top 10?

-GAME: Spy Hunter Cockpit (complete/not working)
-TOTAL MILES: 3330 total miles
-TIME: 4 days. Left Thursday morning and got home Sunday night.
-WEATHER: Heavy rain, snow, blowing snow, heavy fog, temps down to 1 F.
-TRUCK: Dead. Water pump went out during snowstorm. 3rd and 4th gear went out with 55 miles to go. I had to drive the last 55 miles in second gear holding 50 mph and 3500RPM.
-WORTH IT?: Totally worth it. Grail mission complete.

Guess what game I'm never selling. haha.

Awesome! Nice haul! Ya got me beat by a longshot! My furthest for only 900 miles. That's peanuts compared to you. haha Sorry to hear about your truck.

huge congrats, but holy hell wasn't there a closer SH cockpit in the US NW???

that is serious Iron Man performance. the f'd up trans in the snow would have just added 10x the stress for me. you are a total beast.

How bad were the storms? Not sure about Nebraska, but we got ~15 inches in less than 48 hours. Hasn't been snowing for 12 hours and my street is still literally impassable

What a haul. Even if I had a grail game, not sure if I'd be willing to drive that far

Looks like a Dodge that went into limp mode. Replace the input output speed sensors and it should be good.

Or you could pull them, clean them (they will
likely be covered with metal chips - wipe them off) and reinstall them.

I think it would have only been like $300-$500 or so to ship it. From experience owning a dodge from that era you probably spent that much in gas.

That truck is a 4x4, so say you got 20 mpg at $3/gal (It's probably closer to 15-16), you spent $500 on gas, then add in any incidentals and food.

I wish. I'd been looking for 2 years. Luckily it was only the water pump that blew up, threw the belt, and dumped all the coolant into the snowstorm. The trans didn't go out until I was almost home and it was nice and dry. haha

They were just starting. When I was in Nebraska it was raining really hard and then just starting to snow. I started back right away because of all the severe storm warnings. I checked after I got home and the interstate has been closed from the snow. I think I just made it through before it got crazy.

Unfortunately it doesn't have a limp home mode. It just has a 'broken' mode. haha. The computer was throwing up 4th gear timing errors, 3rd gear timing errors, and transmission control errors. The 4th gear/overdrive has been acting up for a while now. I'll start messing with it, but I have a feeling the transmission may be toast.

I feel like you could have shipped it for a lot less..But I guess you have a story now.

I wish. The seller wasn't willing to ship. Understandable considering the insecurity of taking payments from people and the size of this thing too. You would need a jumbo pallet for this thing.

It's been close to death for a while now. I think I'll try and limp around in 2nd gear for a couple more months and then buy a Tundra that's a couple of years old. I like to keep things a really long time and I just don't trust the reliability of Dodge, Ford, or Chevy anymore.

Holy Shit!

It's like you played Spy Hunter coming home.

Drive your truck up on another truck while still hauling the Spy Hunter Cockpit in the back. Sounds like a cool game.

Nice pick up for sure! (talking about the game of course. I'm a Ford guy.)

You're totally right. I averaged about 15-15.5 MPG running roughly between $2.60 and $3.15 a gallon. Plus the tow truck which was around $85. Plus the water pump replacement at $560. (A bit high if you ask me) All the parts were about $140 at Napa and I had the tools with me to do it. However, it was blowing snow, about 20 degrees outside, and I'm getting over being sick so I'm coughing like crazy. It was just better to let them do it while I sat inside sipping coffee.

Financially, it was probably (definitely) a terrible idea. Then again, life is short and opportunity doesn't knock every day.

yeah these trips can be fun but very tiring. i think my longest round trip for games was 4200 miles...

This probably doesn't count but I drove from Denver to Florida in October to deliver a custom cabinet...about 3700 miles round trip.

But I made a vacation out of it...and got to see a lot of places I've never been before. I even got pulled over outside of Dallas (going 5 under, so not speeding) for having Colorado license plates....the cop assumed (and later admitted) my 72 year old mother (whom I took along) and I were smoking weed as we drove through (because Colorado)

It's always an adventure, this hobby.

Hey, next time look into renting a truck. It can actually come out cheaper or as a wash and it's less likely to strand you or have something expensive break. 2 days truck rental around me where everything is expensive as shit can be less than $150 after everything (assuming you have insurance through credit card or your car insurance) and the new trucks can get double the mileage of yours. That and you get a plush nice new vehicle for a couple days at least. Last time I did that I got a brand new diesel giant ass pickup truck for like $65 and it made it more fun.
