So after being dismayed at the thought of never completing the collection. And well after finding a Shatterhand only to find the price is Waaaaay too much. I think I may break up the collection a bit. I have a bid on a NG2 and if I lose out on that, and my shot at shatterhand doesn't get any more reasonable then I will be selling off a large portion of my games and extra Dual monitor boards.

So I MIGHT.

Why am I posting this? Well Hoping someone will either a) talk me out of it, or b) figure I would give folks here a first shot at my games.

I would keep about 15-20 games, haven't narrowed it down all the way yet though.

What games do I have you ask? All but Shatterhand, RBI, and the ones listed as wanted in my sig.

Well I just started on the Playchoice collection. I would definitely vote for not selling yours. But if you do, I have some interest in games :) Castlevania, Gauntlet, The Goonies, Metroid, TMNT II: The Arcade.

Just wait, shatter hand will never be "cheap" but you may find someone who has no idea what they have. It happens. I regret selling games for my pc but im still looking for rc pro-am, dont sell'em.

Unless you need the cash, need the room or are getting out of games/the hobby...I wouldn't. This is just how game collecting goes. Do you really need the last PC10 game right now? Accept that you may need to go years before that final hole is filled up. Enjoy the hunt, because sometimes that is the most enjoyable part of this hobby (well...second to playing). If you're still into it and you sell your collection, you may potentially regret it.

Well the goal was to get every game. Which I was all set for it to take a few years even. I got lucky got a lot of rare titles early. Just had some bad luck on the final few.

What kinda hit me though was I have a bunch of games I don't even really like that much. And some I don't play at all. It isn't so much a room issue (PC-10 games are small and the horder's friend), but I don't play a lot of them, and probably won't.

The goal was getting all of them, having them in one cabinet, and being able to play any of them I wanted.

I want to avoid collecting for the sake of collecting, and if I am not going to play them I don't want to view them as an investment.

Also if I can't get all of them then what is the point kinda attitude toward the collecting. There is no way I am going to pay $700.00+ for Shatterhand or NG3, and well that is what it would take to get those it seems.

So like I said I am torn. Discouraged, yea and also questioning am I collecting just to collect, and if so, why do that.

I am definitely keeping the PC-10, and probably 20 of the more played games, but I think I will hopefully help some other collectors fill their collections...maybe :)

No one anymore...NG3 no idea just heard that $1,000.00 was the going rate for one now, and $750.00 was for a shatterhand that was and no longer is available.

If you just want to have them available to play, why not sacrifice two cheaper duplicate PC-10 games and do a swap? I mean, I understand it wouldn't be the authentic PC-10 cart, but you're looking at paying 1,000.00 for the same exact game you can buy for 10 bucks. And I mean same exact, considering these are straight NES games.

If collecting is the issue, then yeah. You've got to weight out how much you really, really want to complete that collection.

A side sympathy example...one console library I have working on completing for years is my loose NES collection. I have maybe 200-ish left to go and amongst those are the super expensive stuff. Do I really want to pay up the butt for a Stadium Events or an authentic World Championship cart? Not really. The hunt and piecing the library together is what is fun. Being able to play almost any major NES game on a legit machine is important to me. An authentic Stadium Events and World Championship would just be novelties in the library. If I land on one, cool, but I can live without them. I can even live with just having a reproduction of both. Unless my goal is to out-collect every other collector out there. But then that would shift my priorities.

Thanks man, that is really where I am at...

The hunt was the cool part that was the fun, but it is basically at an end as I am so damn close. I think I know how NERDTendo felt when he completed his. I am just shy of the complete set, but today was really discouraging...and I think kidna sealed it for me.

The collecting was fun, now I think I will move into the playing portion...I will probably have a FS post up in a few days when I get a better idea on prices.

And talking with and meeting other PC-10 collectors has been cool as well. Some of the nicer folks arcade wise to talk to. Made some new friends for sure.

I just can't compete on the dedication level of some of you guys though:) So I'll perhaps help their collections then.

Rory has NG3. Check his sig and threads he's started.

I saw Shatterhand go for $350. That was the lowest.

Magog: We all get to the same point as you in the PC-10 collecting. There are plenty of times where I wish I still had RC Pro Am, Rescue Rangers, Mega Man 3, and others. Just a single monitor line up, loaded with 10 games. Ah. The good old days.

I feel the same way about some of my PC10 games. I'll probably sell some off this Summer too. The money can be spent on somehting I'll actually use or enjoy playing.

I've had bounties of up to $1,000 each for those two games for years now. If someone contacted other people and didn't get to me first, the one paying the most money, I am not really understanding how that is...

Same way with me and NG2 and RC-Pro AM, yet 5 or 6 of each have sold here for less in the last year. I feel your pain.

I forwarded your email on to the guy who bought it, so hopefully you hear from him. He also has NG3...Who knows maybe you can score both from him.

I put my for sale thread up.

I feel okay about it...selling SJM first helped me feel better about selling them. I don't want to get to a point of having to offer 1k each for the last few games I need, and the seeing and missing out on NG2 like 6 times is killing me (shit for even $65.00 too).

Oh well was fun finding all of these and collecting them.

I hope some folks can get some nostalgia or complete their collections.

Is NG2 that difficult to find? I have been collecting for over a year and I agree it is very frustrating and very expensive. I hope you change your mind.
