I have this Maximum force that I almost have fully working and wanted to get into the test menu to set the volume and set it to freeplay but the test mode button on this board keeps resetting the game when I press it. Do I have a bad switch and has anyone else come across this issue? Does anyone have a working switch or entire board for sale?

Thanks in advance

If your getting the "default settings" text, then it just reboots, the problem is your save eeprom. You need to buy a replacement.

You can get the save eeprom from ToplessZ. I believe the exact red text is "setting ERPROM default values".

Other than that, I'm not sure what the problem could be.

I checked the EPROMs and want to double check, which one are you saying needs to be replaced?

OK i got the replacement save eeprom and tried it again and now while it doesn't say "setting ERPROM default values" anylonger it still restarts the game each time I press this. I checked all over the board and I tried the on board test switch to do the self diag and all looks good there. voltage on the board is 5.11 V and 12.32 V so the V to high LED is lite but my PS at the moment will not go any lower. I don't think the Voltage being a little high would cause this test switch reset issue so what else could be the issue? Please help me this is bugging the crud out of me.

the test mode on the board is a slide switch, yes? By pressing that momentary button and releasing it you are popping into test mode and back out. Press and hold it and see what it does.

OK so I flipped that test switch into the test mode and then powered the game on and got to the menu and was able to change the setting I needed to, mainly to free play and turn the volumn down LOL. I tried to hold the test button press switch in and it just resets the game unless I hold the switch in a certain manner and then it works so yeah it works but in a kinda glitchy way. I will take it for now.

Thanks everyone for getting me this far. Now to track down an issue with the wiring harness for the second gun. I checked it on the player one and it works great but when plugged into the second player harness I get nothing. It must be a bad crimp. I will report back when I find this.

did you ever find a more permanent solution? I am having the exact same issue on a maximum force arcade I just picked up. pressing the test switch just reboots the game, but I dont get any text. you said you flipped the switch on the board over and then powered it on to get to the menu? what did you do with the switch once you were done in the menu/when did you flip it back the other direction? thanks

I never did.
I actually just figured it out on mine. You do have to press and hold the test switch, but you have to hold it for a lot longer than I anticipated, probably around 15 seconds or so, before it entered the test menu. give it a try and see if it works for you
