Sometimes when i play my Maverick it seems to shut down mid game in particular the DMD.
When the whole machine goes the playfield lighting stays on, the ramp diverter cycles a few times. Then it restarts.
The other thing it does id that the DMD keeps restarting along with the assosciated whistle. It seems to shut down when you engage the flippers and more so the right flipper. The background music also stops although voice/sound clips play.
Any Ideas as where i should start looking?
Thanks

Go over connectors in the head of the game and be sure all are on tight.

Then go over fuse holders. Be sure soldered onto board good and plenty of tension holding the fuse.
LTG :)

All connectors tight fuse holders good, reflowed all joints on power supply and no change.
Checked power to DMD when right flipper pressed and it dropped from 5v to 4.8v when flipper held in.
I decided to take a few readings from CN1 and compare to those on the pinrepair link.
Pin1 should be 18 and i have between 14.1 and 16.7 never steady.
Pin2 and 3 should be 32v i have 39.9v on both
pin10 and 11 should be 9v ac i have 10.4 and 9.57.
Where would you recommend i look for the cause of these differences?
Thanks

Replaced DB1 today and the flippers no longer make the DMD lose power. But now the sound is very low and adjusting the volume makes no difference.
On testing it looks like i have lost the -12v necessary for operation.
Any suggestions?

CN2 pin 3 on the sound board is your -12v. Is that where you measured the voltage from?

Check CN2 solder joints.

Measured at CN2 but also at test points above the relay on the powerboard.
I dont have enough knowledge to understand what component does what.
Can someone explain how the -12v is generated from the 2 x 9vac input.
Thanks.

Fix for the next man with this problem.
The DB1 fixed the problem but where was the -12v?
i should look harder the -12v from DB1 is on a trace on the top (parts side) of the board The solder had not flowed through to the top part so no connection.
another thing learned today...
Thanks all for the replies.
