I have a 19" Matsushita TM-201G with a dim tube. I know that this is a common issue with this monitor. The question is this: is the chassis decent to keep in terms of looking for a replacement tube or is that crap too?

The neck has 10 pins but they are arranged differently (CR-30) than the more common 10 pin arrangement (CR-23). Has anyone ever swapped a donor TV tube into a Matsushita monitor? I have only found the CR-23 type tubes in TVs (which hasn't been a problem thus far ;) ).

I have found places to buy the tube (510TFB22 - replacement for the 510TFB22AW in there now) online but it's on the order of $120 before shipping. Even if I DID go that route, will this replacement tube have the same problems as the current tube?

Into the dumpster or try and save -- is it economically feasible?

As a followup, since the old tube has 10 pins but just arranged differently, is it possible to contruct an adapter to convert the CR-30 neckboard to work with a CR-23 tube? I've read, but not investigated, that one can use an adapter to rejuvenate the tube -- wondering if you can use the adapter to actually DRIVE the tube

The chassis itself is ok when recapped. However, the oddball tube pinout makes it very difficult to find donor tubes that match it. Your only choice is to use a brand new tube of the same number as the original. That can indeed get pricey. So much so, that it's cheaper to buy a new monitor.

There are collectors here that need working chassis and yokes for this model so I wouldn't throw it away.

Now you could rejuvenate that existing tube and get a good picture again. This of course assumes you either own a rejuvenator or have access to one.

My Matsushita looks great after a cap kit. Definitely do a cap kit and rejuv of the tube.

Lots of folks here think ill of the Matsushita but at this point if it can be made to work (with reasonable effort) then what is wrong with that?

I have one in my pole position cockpit and it looks as good or better than my go7 in my up right pp2 but the go7 is much easier to keep up and running in my opinion. The tube seams to be there biggest problem. Just dont toss the chassis

theres a reason we all call em matSHITuba lol.. i have one im tinkering with now, no screen burn, only the green works .....krap tube already :D
