Just recapped a Matsushita which has a beautiful picture. I don't know why everyone complains about these. Easy to work on in my opinion.

However, I do have one problem I cannot figure out. There is a vertical wave from bottom to top on the display. I know the monitor takes composite negative sync so I have only that hooked up. The wave is a slow roll that takes about 2 seconds to go from bottom to top. Other than that, great picture. I did not replace any of the BP caps but tested them with my ESR meter and they all tested good. Any suggestions from anyone here? Once this is fixed I can move it out the door and tackle a different monitor.

Personally, because the only place I could find a flyback to my 28" Polo/2 was a distributor in the UK - and after ordering it, overpaying for shipping, waaaaaaaiting, installing it and finally seeing some picture - suddenly stops working as I'm adjusting the focus. I love these old games, am very literate when it comes to computing, but didn't realize the extent of "television repairman" I was signing up for when I took on this hobby. The Hanatarex has been my biggest money pit since joining this hobby, and it's the one monitor that I can't find someone more knowledgeable than me to take on. And it's not exactly raining 28" monitors.

Just a follow up for future reference. I tried a different game board and the roll stopped. Guess this monitor only likes certain games. The cabinet the monitor went in had no issues with the monitor either. Not really a "fix" but good enough for my purposes.
