Hi;
I am working on a Matsushita TM-202 and cannot source C561, which is a 3.3uF@160v Bipolar cap........
It seems that they only go up to 100v.
I checked the Forums, NG.
Checked the usual suppliers, NG.
I even checked E-bay, NG...
Anyone have a lead on this elusive cap?
Thanks in advance
Jeff

I was told that it would be best to just find the correct NP cap, not "make one" from 2 polarized ones.
Is this not correct?
I would appreciate (good) advise as I still have not sourced this cap.....
Thanks
Jeff

Obviously sourcing a non-polarised cap would be preferable, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with using two polarised caps. The only downside is it won't look quite as good.

Thanks guys, I think that at this point I really have no choice! It seems that they only make up to 100v NP caps....

From the Cornell Dubilier applications guide:

"If two, same-value, aluminum electrolytic capacitors are connected in series, back-to-back with the positive terminals or the negative terminals connected, the resulting single capacitor is a non-polar capacitor with half the capacitance. "

Does it matter which are connected together?

Thanks for the help.
Jeff

OK, problem solved.
I spoke with a trusted source (friend) and I will be sub'ing a Polypropylene or Polyethylene film cap in place of the NP Electrolytic. I was told that it will probably be a superior part for my application.
Hope this info could help someone else.......
Jeff
