I did a search and found an incredible long thread on these monitors, but I think mine is the oppostie of what happened there. I have a Matsushita monitor in my Millipede UR, and the screen had a little roll to it. First step was a cap kit. The picture looked good, but I couldn't to get it to fully focus. It was close, but not close enough. So I just replaced the flyback yesterday and now the picture is extremely dim. I can barely see it when the brightness is all the way up. All the connections are good and I am sure it was the right flyback. Did anyone figure out what this could be or should I go buy a paddle?

These monitors are also known for having crappy tubes. Do you have a rejuvenator or access to one? I had good success using my rejuvenator on one of these monitors. Has a nice picture now.

I didn't think the tube was bad because the picture was fine and just started curving at the bottom. All that was changed was a cap kit and flyback.

There are two brightness controls on this monitor - the SCREEN pot on the flyback and the BRIGHT control on the video amplifier board. Have you adjusted both?

Also, you should check to ensure the B+ is set correctly. B+ test point is D91, and is adjusted by R812. B+ should be 123 volts.

Also look around the backside of the board for any areas that have darkened due to heat. I had a bunch of cold solder joints and a couple broken traces on a Matsushita I rebuilt last year. Beautiful picture once everything was fixed. Good luck.

I have only tried the screen pot on the neckboard. Unfortunately I didn't have the manual with me last night so I didn't know where the other spot was. I will try that tonight. Thanks for the info. Also I have B+ set around 124V because I cannot get it to go any lower. It was originally at 136V.

The verdict is in, the monitor is a piece of junk. I brought the blue and green back ok but still a little dim. The red is weak and completely out of focus. I'm going to look for a G07 or WG monitor locally and be done with it since every person I have talked to had told me Matsushita is Japanese for piece of sh*t. The bright spot is that if feel after this flyback I am now fully confident of my soldering skills. Not much I know, but I have to find something positive out of this.
