A simple quick disconnect. Now I can have the match feature on without that annoying knocker, and if I ever need to hook it back up, simply plug it in.

You disconnected the knocker?? That's Blasphemy! :) I'm personally a fan of the knocker, it was awesome to have that go off in the arcade...it was like the pinball machine telling everybody in the arcade, that you are having a kick ass game!

Yeah...I love the knocker.

It's great when someone new comes over to play, and the knocker scares the crap out of them when it goes off for the first time, and they jump about 2 feet in the air.

Heh heh heh.

:D

This must be your first pinball machine. I've bought machines without the knocker working and have spent $ and hours of time fixing it. As a pinball player that's the sound you live for. It lets everybody know you just kicked some butt and won a free game. I question if you should even be allowed to own this machine now. LOL

Who doesn't love knockers?
And those things in the pinball machine that make
that loud bang when you're awarded a credit?

Side note, when did knockers die? When stern bought sega pinball?
Did Sega kill them first? Last game to have a knocker was..?

You could also just put a small piece of foam or padding in there. So when it knocks it's more of a soft thud then a loud crack. I happen to LOVE the loud crack as well though. But if it's too loud or you have kids or whatever the reasoning, just use some padding to mute the knock a bit.

I disabled the knockers on all my Stern pins. I personally find the sound they use to be very annoying, sounds like the damn speakers just blew. I would probably leave an original knocker though, and I believe at one point someone made a knocker kit for Stern's newer pins.

Aww, you don't like the knocker? That's half the fun of leaing the match feature enabled at all on a game set to free play.

I have to say, that my favorite use of a pinball knocker was actually in a video game. Q*bert. When you fell off the pyramid, the guy would fall off the screen, then *thunk* from a knocker at the bottom of the cabinet. Very creative, and funny too.

I love the crack of a knocker in pinball. That jolt of surprise you get is awesome. Sadly, my knocker coil was fried on my pin, and I am too damn lazy to install the replacement I got. It would also require I replace the driver transistor in my defense - one that I have already replaced once. :D

Yeah,, What in the hell is that suppose to be?

I dunno, but if you hear it while playing Nascar it almost sounds like a tire peeling out. That's what my wife guessed it was when I scored a replay out in a local arcade. When it happened again on a TSPP, she realized it was just their funky version of the knocker.

I could care less for the knocker, and the wife and daughter hated it. The machine is on free play, but I wanted to leave the match feature active so I can keep the sounds it makes when the game ends. Yes I'm a pinball noob and I'm still working both flippers at once, I admit it.
