okay peoples i found a cheap mata hari local for only 300. i am actually interested in purchasing this thing, but whats stopping me is the condition of the play field. it is pretty faded and I'm sure the cabinet is a little beat. i have not seen it in person as i just got into contact with the lady today. is there a way of me to redo the play field? if so is it like something you NEED to have experience with? is it worth the 300 if it is in working condition? i am not usually into the OLDER style pinball machines but after watching a youtube video of it, it actually seems pretty cool. what are your thoughts people?

if its a em its worth the 300 a day, there very rare.if your any good at painting models ,you could do a bang up job of touching it up.as for the letters the hobbie shops sell like a rub on letters and numbers you rub them on than clear over them.if you have a steady hand free hand them.if it really that bad maybe someone is redoing them or you can find a local air brush artist that willnt rip you off. good luck

Mata Hari was made in two versions. A solid-state game (with digital displays) and an electro-mechanical version with score reels. The EM version is more rare and collectable.

Classic Playfields is going to be releasing repro. playfields hopefully within a year. They will go for (I think) about $575.

MH is a fun game, challenging, too. If it's fully functioning, $300 is a good price. If you decide you like it, you can always replace the PF - either a new, expensive one, or once those are out, some folks may have slightly used PFs for sale (me included).

I haven't swapped a PF before - MH will likely be my first - but this era game is ideal for a first-timer, since they are a lot simpler than newer games.

Food for thought. I recently reluctantly let my Mata Hari go for $750 with a few minor issues. The PF was about as good as they get for being original and never being touched up. I would love to have it back, It's a great game. The odd thing is, the very day I sold it, I got my highest score yet, 1.2 million. Sad but true.
