Masteroids works great in my Asteroids, but when I put it in an Asteroids Deluxe, it boots up great but will not respond to button pusses. I have checked continuity from the board to the control panel, and everything works great. Also, the AD works great with the original board, but when I swap out for the Masteroids, I get the intro screen but it will not respond to start a game.

Any suggestions?

Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe have slightly different harness pinouts.
I can't remember the details and don't have schematics at the moment.
But there are differences in the control inputs and coin inputs as I recall.
Maybe some other minor stuff.

Have you accounted for that with an adapter?
Or does the Masteroids board allow you to do it by switch/jumper selection?
(or by software setup option?)

Advertised to work in either an Asteroids or Deluxe cabinet.
I assume you use the TEST switch to get to the menus and change the cabinet type.

FYI: pinout differences (if using original boards)

Start1 : Coin C
Start2 : Coin L
Rotate L : Rotate R

Maybe try pushing the buttons?

I'm not sure how you "puss" one. :ROFLMAO:

I'm kidding, what VC said. The connections are different between the two cabinets, so you have to tell the board what it's in.

Did you do that?

I just noticed the pinouts are different.

To reset the board so I can re designate what game it is in, do I press the button on the PCB?

How to:

  • To switch between games, press both player start buttons
  • To access the settings menu, turn the test switch on and press player 1 and player 2 at the same time. To switch between games press p1 and p2 at the same time.
