Have a marvel vs capcom jdm version, it was working fine, I turned down the sound with the down button on the side because it was not being played that day, next day I go to turn it up and nothing happens, it will not budge from 00 volume. I have tried resetting defaults under the menu ,separating A from B, and putting them back together, plugging the game into other cabs and nothing works. ANY ideas would be great. The test button on the side of it still responds and brings up the test menu, not sure if that means anything. Thanks in advance!

Sounds to me that you simply have a broken button on there. I've owned a few CPS2 boards in my time... can you take it apart and see if the connection is flaky. That's all it probably is.

howdy neighbor! (I'm from TP)

I had an A board that came with my Street Fighter Alpha 3 that was an extra cause I just swapped B boards in my cab. one night I wanted to see if the extra A board was worth anything, and it worked, but the sound was intermittent.

you just open the casing on it and clean it out real good, I personally used an old toothbrush and some rubbing alcohol. the fans on these usually get gummed up too, so if you got an air compressor or a can of air it's probably a good idea to take that outside and blast that too.

oddly enough, that's all it took to fix the sound on mine. yours might be an issue of your Vol Down button being stuck on the inside or something equally absurd. these games have a volume setting in the test menu actually, did you try turning it up in there first and then return to the game mode and it magically turned its volume down again on you?

if so, sounds like stuck button, means it probably needs a bath. :)

thanks for the suggestions guys!! Still no luck! grr!!! cleaned the heck out of the thing from top to bottom, switched out the test switch on the board (known working) to the sound, test still works sound still does not (leads me to think the switch is ok) The volume up and down in the test menu? I dont know that I have that. I have a section to test sounds but I do not think it gives an option to turn the volume up or down (unless I am totally missing something) all mine is in wingdings (japan) so its kinda hard to navigate (I do have a printout of a usa test menu) would it matter it is not in an original cab? I think its a normal SF2 cab, I have the original in the garage but it was busted to heck so I put it in the sf2 one

I wasn't going to say anything, but I'm almost positive there is NOT a volume up in the CPS2 menu. It's only those buttons.

The good news is A boards are cheap. Worst case, buy a new A board. Marvel vs Capcom is the B board... no biggie.

I would like to open it and switch the wires from the volume up and volume down and see if it moves. I'm guessing it's the button still.

yea I figure im gonna have to get a new one, I am going to try to give it another good cleaning once I get back in town and see if that helps. I was hoping I could just switch the switches on the board but that didnt work, oh well thanks again for the suggestions

well that sucks. you said it was Japanese region? looks like it's time for a new green board. :(

I've seen em on ebay, and actually on KLOV a few times for relatively cheap. I can't remember what the switch assembly looks like actually, but it looks like you've tried a lot of different stuff to no avail.

good luck, my previous offer still stands if you need help with anything... well, if this snow ever stops.
