i have looked around for this game but can't bring myself to pay close to 400 bucks just for the board set, has anyone setup a dreamcast with this game and a jamma adapter, and if so how does it compare. or even the original xbox version.

Some of the folks at BYOAC are talking about this very game. It seems the best way to rolls is to run a dreamcast emulator and run the ROM with that...

Visit arcadecontrols.com and do a search in the general forum.

Most people will tell you that the DC version is the best of the DC/PS2/XBOX.

The DC is a Naomi with a lil less power.
I don't know why you would want to run a PC with a DC emulator.
You can wire up a DC with a burned copy for about $50.

I think a Modded Xbox is another good solution... A few more games are available.

other options are run via Makaron/Demul emulators on PC

or

the original xbox version is pretty good and they can be had cheap also could mod to play MAME etc on that, along with SNES, good cheap emulator and can hook up to a cabinet as well

DC version is the closest to the original. With the 360 version you're looking at way different menus, random pop up notifications, and a lot more expensive machine.

I suggest the original Dreamcast port. VERY close to the original and cheap. It's about the best way to emulate the original, emulating IT would seem a bit redundant and may cause problems in the long run with lag and the like unless you have a decent computer to put in (which would cost more than a DC).

i was just checking to see how it compared, i have tried emulation but didn't like the results, i already own a softmodded original xbox so i might just go with it. but dreamcast are pretty cheap now too.

Dreamcasts are super cheap and easy to get the MvC2 rom for.
I'm actually working on a JAMMACast project on the side also. I would just have a whole board with a JAMMA edge connector and CPS2 adaptor running to the Dreamcast and controller hacks.
