I recently bought a Marvel Super Hero game. When I got it it home it wouldn't come on.I wiggled the pcb and it came on.About 3 hours later my friend heard a sizzle noise and unplugged it.He smelled an electrical smell. Now when I plug it up the fan on the board starts but nothing on the monitor.I can't find any burnt wires.Checked the power supply and its fine.I also checked 1 of the boards. It looked fine.Going to check the other board next.Does anybody have any suggestions.I'm a newbie!

found a 3.6 volt battery in the other board.don't think this matters but it only had 3.58 volts.that shouldn't matter....should it?......that question proves I'm a newbie!!!

I cleaned all the dust and stuff out of both boards.Pretty sure that it wasn't making a good connection before.Put it in game and it came up but with no monitor. Now I have to get the courage to mess with the monitor.Hopefully it's just the fuse.If not I'm guessing it's the bridge rectifier.Does anyone know how long it takes the monitor to lose all the stored voltage.I don't really want to manually discharge it.I've replaced a rectifier before but can't remember how long it sat before I messed with it.

There are rarely numbers on the chassis. That is why you look at the one you have and then compare it to the pics of the ones on that page. Is your monitor 19" or 25"?

OK, yes a serial number is usually present but they aren't very helpful unless the monitor is a WG model and fairly new. If you are unable to compare it to the page I posted then just take a few pics and post them here.

I'll do that. Thanks for the help......oh yeah...is there a time limit to when it's safe to touch that thing?

We can't tell you until we know what monitor it is...

Most monitors are perfectly safe so long as you avoid the anode cup (large red, sometimes black, rubber piece that goes into the picture tube itself).

Cool.I notice the wire coming out of the anode cup is laying on the back of the tube.I'll send some some pics later.I really appreciate your help. Thanks again!!!

I'm pretty sure it is a WG K7000.There is a schematic on it that says 69x1712-100.That led me to it being the WG K7000.If that's not correct I'll send some pics.

Watched a video on discharging a monitor.Going to pull the board and start troubleshooting.Hopefully won't electrocute myself.

For anyone who cares I didn't electrocute myself.Realized this post belongs elsewhere. Please forgive my "newbieness"!!!!
