I installed a 115v version into an arcade cabinet, as I've done before many times. Of course, now I have a problem.

What I've done (and it's worked in the past) is built a connector that only has 4 wires to the acceptor. 2 wires are for the 115v, and are connected to pins 4 and 20. I've got two wires connected to one of the credit switches on the coin door, and are connected to pins 1 and 16. Pin 1 is the ground wire on the coin switch.

The problem I'm having is that when it powers up, I get two flashes of the red LED, and it will not take bills. 2 flashes means the mech is not enabled. I've tried various dip switch settings for different pulses, credit line, acceptance, sensitivity, etc, and am not getting a change. The only is when it goes to 4 flashes when I take the magazine off.

Any thoughts?

Well, I don't know anything about bill acceptors, so this is a shot in the dark, but... Does it accept bills without the magazine? If so, perhaps the switch that tells the acceptor that the magazine is installed is wired backwards - NC vs. NO.

Beyond that... I dunno... :)

No, that's not the problem, as it changes to "Magazine not installed" when it's removed, and clears when it's put back in.

I've read up that it usually gives this error if waiting for an enable from a coin changer or something, but I've used this kind of acceptor before and not had this problem....

Is the little mirror missing from the magazine?

Is this a brand new bill acceptor and it's under warranty?

Have you tried the dip switch setting for "always enabled"?

Have you tried programming the unit with the photocopied programming coupon?

Do you have the owner's manual? You can download it from Mars.

I dunno about the mirror. Where should it be?

The unit was dropped off to me (used) by an operator who wanted me to install it into a game for him.

I haven't seen a dip switch for "always enabled", just the ones for 1-way/2-way/4-way, accept $1/$2/$5, slow pulse/long pulse/credit line.

I have no coupon.

Yes, I've downloaded the manual, but it isn't helping me with this problem other than to tell me to check my coin tubes (don't have any) or dip switches on the coin changer (not using one)....

There should be dip switch #8 "Always Enabled" / "Harness Enabled" if you have an amusement application bill acceptor. Set it to Always Enabled. Unless your bill acceptor is vending application model like the "VN" series. If that's the case you need a special Mars jumper that plugs into the bill acceptor to enable it.

See this manual:

Configuration coupons for this model are here:

Okay, I have verified they gave me a VN model. Any info on making this jumper myself? Looking at the pinout, I see a HOT ENABLE and a NEUTRAL ENABLE, along with a lot of other stuff....

The line drawing in the service manual of the jumper plug really doesn't show what is going where. It looks like seven wires are involved.

Part number 250074011 Enable Jumper Cable

Okay. I made contact with someone who has one of these Enable Jumper Cables, and they told me what I needed to know to build my own. Once I have done so and verified it works, I will post the info here....

Enable Jumper Cables Update

I was having trouble with the same issue and created an account specifically to update this issue. The Jumper did work in my case. I have a Claw machine that does not use a coin return and is required to always be enabled. I had trouble at first - I was getting two flashes with my mars mei vn 2511 115V - spent a couple days trying to figure it out. The link below saved me. Solid red now, also green leds light up in front. Also, printed out my own coupon on a laser printer with just stock paper and penciled in the settings I wanted. Make sure all switches are off then hold the blue reset on back and it will strobe; at that point insert the coupon. If success, it will flash ten times. Much easier than setting the dip switches on the DBA. Hope this helps someone else out.
