I've been thinking about doing this for a long time, and I finally made time to throw this together. It's just some 3/4" pine shelving that I cut to match a marquee - in this case a narrow MB. Routed the edges for t-molding, quick paint job with a couple of spray cans and this is the finished product. I'm going to make some for several of my nicer looking marquees. I'd like to light it up from the back, but I really don't want any cords showing - anybody have any ideas?

did you use marquee brackets also? cant tell from the pic, but I really do like this idea.

Ancient Chinese secret!

Actually I used t-molding, I thought it would be cheapest and easiest. The marquee is sandwiched in between the inner edge of the t-molding and the edge of the wood. I should have taken some pics of it going together, but I was excited to get it done. I routered the inner edge of the top and bottom so the marquee would sit flush. It turned out really clean. Here's a quick drawing of it:

Maybe you could go buy one of those round dome lights that turns on by pushing on it.Not sure what those things are called,I remember seeing them on one of those $19.99 greatest invention ever commericals.

very clever, I have a feeling once I get a free weekend I will be making some for myself. I'm tired of using pushpins to display mine.
