Marquee Collections

I separated mine. It is a different look, but I like the way they are spaced. They go all around the room like this. I filled in extra space with metal signs from Hobby Lobby.

so cool. how exactly are you all HANGING these heavy glass marquee's on the wall???

HOW?!?!

I just used tiny white paneling nails. I angled two downward on the bottom of the marquee and two upwards on the top (so they won't tip forward). Works really well, they have been up over a year with no issues. Most are plastic, the glass ones I put a couple of extra nails.

Here's a crazy idea. Make up a few stencils of random video game stuff, like pacman or space invaders and spray paint them onto the vent. It would look pretty cool. Might want to remove the vent before painting.

If it were me....I would stop hanging them just before you hit the vents. I think it would look cleaner having a straight row across instead of the holes/spacing

Any recommendations?

Yeah, separate that Vampire marquee onto its own wall with a spotlight.

Where in the F*CK did you find that?! Aside from a photograph in a magazine from 34 years ago that is the only evidence I have ever seen that that game actually existed.

Sad to see all those marquees on the wall & not on the games. There's some really good/rare ones on the wall you should sell to people trying to save games.

I saw that too! Vampire has been discussed on here as a probably unreleased game that was reviewed in a 1983 issue of Video Games Magazine.

You have to move the count around a town in a Zaxxon-style isometric viewpoint, catching women and biting their necks for points. I believe you have police chasing you, and you can turn into a bat as well if I remember the content of the article.

(can anybody post the link to prior discussions? I'm not finding it...)

I'd also love to know the story behind how you got that marquee!

Kyle

G'day
Not sure if it's yours or a rental.. but how much do you want things to line up? My OCD understands.
So vents and switches are really quite simple to relocate... bit of extra cable for the switches and a little extra tubing for the vents

I do indeed own it. I'd rather not relocate -- it took some pleading with my wife to even allow me to put these up -- if I said I was going to start moving vents and switches around am sure she'd complain about it. :)

Any chance you have a Macho Mouse marquee in that collection?

I do not, unfortunately. This is pretty much my collection, except for Tutankham and Tazz-mania -- they have the extra bendy part at the top so they can't lay flat against the wall so I have not hung them up yet. In my old house I used a block of wood in the back near the bottom of the marquees to even it out and hung them that way. I will probably hang them again at some point.

By the way, the marquees I am in the market for are Moon War, Magical Spot, and Frenzy. I am surprised that I never see Frenzy marquees for sale. Not sure why those appear to be rare.

How do you prevent the paint from chipping off the back? Did you put anything on the back of them to preserve them? I have a few marquees that I want to preserve so they don't start flaking off.

I do not -- and some of these are flaking pretty badly. I just try not to move them much and am careful when I move them.

You know, in one of my buys the seller threw that in as a special gift for buying the other marquees I was buying. I didn't even ask for it or order it. I am thinking the seller was trying to lower his inventory of marquees he didn't want. I have no idea who the seller was -- this was several years ago.
