We recently moved and I re-did my marquee collection display. My main issue is the light switches and vents cause gaps, but I will shift things around if I can to fill the spaces as best as possible. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Nice. Put a poster in those areas and then overlap the marquees over it.

Putting posters in front of heater vents and electrical outlets probably isn't the best idea, nor the best looking (only accounting for the bumpiness, let alone among other things). No offense.

That's awesome! Nice collection of marquees you have.

I would paint the bare wall area black or dark gray and paint the vents and switches/covers bright colors (yellow, orange, bright blue or red, etc.)

Any recommendations?

Here's a random image from Google. Note how these marquees frame the flat screen LCD. Maybe do something like that?

G'day
Not sure if it's yours or a rental.. but how much do you want things to line up? My OCD understands.
So vents and switches are really quite simple to relocate... bit of extra cable for the switches and a little extra tubing for the vents

I found a free photo mosaic program that will make a custom design using the dimensions of your choice. I then used thumbnails of either arcade game flyers or arcade game marquees. You can then trim a hole for the vent, wall socket and light switch. The more thumbnails you use the cooler it will look. I used the Tempest flyer to create my mosaic using 3000 game flyers. It came out really well. The closer you look you will begin to see the individual flyers.

I would line up the marquees starting at each side of the vent/outlet and work my way out from there. You're never going to be able to use every square inch of wall space, so I'd rather have gaps at the ends instead of the middle.

Btw it looks like Kangaroo and Battlezone would fit perfectly to the left of that outlet. Could just be my phone though. :D

I think this might be something to try for sure. I will try it out and see if it improves the look.

Thanks.

How do you prevent the paint from chipping off the back? Did you put anything on the back of them to preserve them? I have a few marquees that I want to preserve so they don't start flaking off.

I separated mine. It is a different look, but I like the way they are spaced. They go all around the room like this. I filled in extra space with metal signs from Hobby Lobby.
