my dig dug marque isnt working. i think it may be the silver thing that plugs in up top there. no idea whats its called. is it something i can buy at a shop or is it something i need to order? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

The starter. ;) Take that into any Home Depot or Lowes / hardware store. They're cheap. You might luck out and that fixes it.

You can buy a 18" under cabinet light w/bulb for 9.00 at Walmart. Just unplug the old one, cut the end off the new one, and wire it in. It's cheap, quick, and easy to do. It has worked every time for me.

Good Luck!

Yeah, that's the "quick easy," but now you've hacked the harness.

I popped the $1.99-for-2 FS-2 into my nonworking Rampage marquee, and it lit right up. ;)

Also OP, we're also assuming you know that the bulb is good...?

Try and replace the starter first, if that doesn't work return it and buy a replacement fixture and wire it in :D

and lol yes making sure the bulb is good is also a good place to start, tho i'm sure he checked that first. lol

Please don't yank out everything wholesale and replace with a crappy $9 fixture.
Marquee assemblies are not overly complex, and are easily repaired. There are four things that can go wrong:

1) The bulb
2) The starter ($1 at many hardware stores)
3) The ballast ($6 at Home depot)
4) The wiring, including the sockets

Uncle Bob has a nice article on the whole thing here: http://www.therealbobroberts.net/fixture.html

No special tools are needed to work on this, just a screwdriver, pliers, and wire nuts (and maybe something sharp to strip wire); and no tools are needed to change the bulb and starter.
