Mario Widebody Restore - Pic Heavy

I got my audio cable yesterday. Unfortunately I had to hack the end of it because my harness has the little black 4 pin connector and the cable came with the white 2 pin molex. I took that off and I spliced on a 3 pin connector from one of my RC cars servo. After cutting some of the plastic off the connector it fits perfectly.

I love hearing the real sounds, when I played on mame it was terrible. On the old versions it was so bad, but since like .130 or around there they changed the walk sound and it makes me want to stab my ears.

I do have a hum in the speaker tho and I recapped the audio board already as well as replaced the transistors. I read that the transformer causes this hum?

Got the CPO on eBay a few weeks ago. $35! Silkscreened. Posting from my phone so sorry about the rotated photo.

I guess the only other thing I've done is get the coin door lights working

Anyway. Just missing side art, which I am going to buy the solvent inkjet set on eBay for $55. The phoenix arcade stuff looks really nice but $165 is more than I paid for the cab itself.... And I need to fix the ram issue on the board, but the game is playable.

I got the sideart from ebay. It was kind of a pain to apply because it kept trying to stretch, but with my wife's help, we got it on and it looks great! She bought me the artwork for my birthday :)

The game does not play right now because I stole the monitor out of it for my DK and replaced it with a K4901. I need the inverter board and sound amp from Mike's arcade. Ill be ordering that soon enough. Once I have that and the 2 orange buttons, I just need to get the dents out of the coin door and then I think I am finished...unless of course I get a hold of another sanyo, then i put it in here.

Is this still a work in progress then? I see that you didn't really restore the front of the machine. You mentioned the dents in the coin door, but the black looks scuffed and I see plugs in the still existing lockbar holes? Did you paint the sides or use Rich's vinyl? The vinyl kit comes with all new black vinyl for the front as well. I am sure he'll sell you just the black if you need it. I'm just wondering and offering suggestions. I mean, you've gone to all this trouble so far, might as well go all the way.

It is a wip still. The machine was painted black when I got it and I never removed the black paint from the front, because I hate black paint. I'm not too worried about it but I have thought about TOGs vinyl. That will be the route I go if I decide to do anything about it. I removed the security bolts from my DK and just patched and sanded and painted it, but again I hate black paint so I am trying to avoid it lol

You'll have to do both unfortunately. It does look good when finished though.

What a cool wife - to buy you side art for your birthday!

Mine does things like that as well!

Congrats again man! Awesome to see this thing evolve from the horrible double dragon hack that it was.
