So I had the vertical collapse. I checked out the monitor and I noticed someone replaced the brightness pot and that the volume pot was busted on the remote board of the monitor. So I bought a Deluxe Cap Kit, Transistors and a Pot replacement kit from Bob Roberts. I met up with another KLOVer and he guided me through the repair. We hooked up the monitor to a DK JR and adjusted B+ and played with some one the brightness settings. looked great, just upside down, but since this is a monitor is Horizontal its perfectly fine.
I put the monitor in the cab again and i just got a White screen. I thought maybe something got rattled when I transported the monitor. Then after posting here I was told that a sanyo will have a white screen with no video. So I figured the Double Dragon was dead.
The power supply was wired to take the AC in from the monitor power. I removed this setup as i wanted my Sanyo to be completely isolated from anything else. I did not want the switcher running off my 100v monitor power. I wired the PS directly from the 120v in. There was no change with the double dragon working.
My cousin had an Ikari warriors jamma board, so I hooked it up, I got video, but it was just garbage on the screen. Again, posting on here I was told to check the voltage as Ikari has known power issues. I checked the power supply and saw that 12v was reading 10.4v and my 5+/- was reading around 4.1v. I bumped the voltage up until I was at 5 and 12, and both the boards booted up, but they keep restarting themselves, so I added a little more voltage, and now both boards are working and stable. This isnt a big deal since I am putting a MB set in this anyway with an original PS, but I was happy to see I got things running.
Also today I sanded down the cabinet to get most of the black paint off of the sides of the cabinet. I also patched up some of the chips and dings on the sides with some vinyl patch, maybe not ideal, but ive used it before and it works fine for the tiny damage I have on the sides. Anyway, I am making progress. Next is the final prep before painting, sanding the patches down, and adjusting the horizontal width coil as I cant get the games to fill the screen, but ill deal with that when I get the Mario board installed.
PICS!
