I've recently changed hobby's and am looking to buy some 80's arcade games. The ones I don't have a hard time finding even in top shape for quite a bit of money are DK, DK Jr, Popeye, etc...but I havent found any Wide Body Mario's for sale anywhere...how hard are these to locate in very good condition? If you do find one, what's the going rate?

I've done the EM pinball thing with the Fireball and finally found a Mint one but wasn't cheap...trying to make sure I'm not chasing something that I'm going to put a fortune to acquire.

You can find anything you want if you have the right amount of money.

Lot's of guys on here have mario WB's.
where are you located?

I'm in Texas (Dallas). What is a reasonable amount to pay for a machine in good shape? 500, $1000...

Ahhh....good question. You've come to the right place.

I haven't seen MB's go for over 400 in quite a while and that includes nice ones. Most can be had for the 250-400 range depending on condition. For a "project" cab, you'll be looking to drop a couple hundred into it for artwork. Then, cabinet work/repairs also factor in. If a complete restoration is in order....I'd keep the investment in a project Mario Bros. Widebody down to the 150-250 range.

If you're driving a long distance to get it...factor in expenses.

If your time is valuable to you and want to pay a premium for a really nice Widebody....look to spend 400-500 (top end) in this market.

Disclaimer: This opinion is mine alone.

Don't really need a disclaimer, you see what you see. Those are Cali prices though right? Out here I have only seen two for sale and they were both at the same super auction. The better one that still needed a bunch of restoration work went for something like $425. One of the other locals here might remember more accurately than me.

Anyway, they don't turn up here much. You might send a private message to PeRFiDiouS on here. He is in Austin and has something like 400 games and many duplicates of popular titles. I have no idea what kind of deals that he makes on his games.

The next Super Auction is on Aug 15th. I put the information on the Klov calendar at the link in the top middle of this page.

Edit: Unless you get lucky, I think you would be looking at $500-$1000 for a nice one. Just not as many around here I guess. You might keep an eye for craigslist in Oklahoma City area as well as on ebay. The gas is offset by the cheaper prices, but the supply can be better for certain games.

Good Luck!

i've typically seen them go for 3-500 around here.... if you consider going to a dk conversion cab (non widebody) style you could probably pay even less, i just picked one up a couple months ago for $100.

and check ebay too, i watched a few widebodys last month and they all stayed under $300, from what i remember. if you can get it cheap enough on there, shipping wouldn't be that big of an issue.

Just be patient and keep checking Craig's List and ebay. They do show up from time to time. Just not as often as the standard DK style cabinet games. Don't worry, you'll find one.

I paid $300 for mine on ebay. It needed a little work, but it cleaned up great.

I need to get a giant trailer and drive up there with a bunch of cash and come back loaded with games. You guys have so many more games available that are worth buying. :)

really? there has been more stuff lately, but generally it's pretty slim pickins.... i haven't checked much in the past couple weeks though, cause i'll admit, getting the satan's hollow, i haven't really felt the need to get any more games. (yet)

I paid $400 for mine and that seems to be the going rate around here . They don't pop up all the time but every year I'll see about 2 for sale . If your patient , you'll see one for sale on Craigslist .

It is probably that the grass is greener. It probably doesn't help that I lump all the midwest deals into one location in my head even though that is an enormous area. :) There are actually some deals on our CL right now, but not games I am looking for. I'm surprised the Turbo cockpit for $150 is still there.

Edit: Damn, your in Colorado... But look at Frizz's score in da ho!

there are deals to be had, though. there was a $175 working joust here that i passed up for the satan's hollow when i got it.

I am still kicking myself in the head for not bidding on that Sinistar in Lodi that went for under 200 on eBay.

Here's my story...I actually just got an English bulldog puppy, paid alot of money for him (shipped him in), then he came down with Pneumonia...cost alot to get over that. So, I've spend 8k on my puppy in 2 months. To partially fund him, I got out of the Reef aquarium hobby sold my tank and now have room for some arcades...which brings me here.

I have newer arcades (Golden Tee 05, NBA Jam and between my dad and we have 4 pinballs (Taxi (Marilyn), Fireball 1972, Wizard, and Captain Fantastic. I'm going to sell my GT to pay for at least one of the 80's arcades. Gotta get the purchases approved by the wife somehow.

Cool that you have a Fireball. I have the Fireball Classic and love it. I would say $500 for a nice MB WB is about right. It all depends on how nice you want it.

Welcome to the forums, oh and by the way, I hope you have thick skin...

yeah, we got very lucky to find it. Actually thought it was too good to be true but it's an actual Fireball. Posted on Craigslist last year and my dad happened to be the first person to call on it. Probably one of the nicest original Fireball's you'll ever see...came out multimillion dollar house and they just wanted it gone since their kids no longer played it.
