Hey geys,

I have the chance to buy a 2 player sit down Mario Kart cab for 5 thousand. Is this too much to pay or is it a decent price? I can't find any sales information on what it typically might sell for. Thanks.

If you get this, can I come over? :)

I looked into it briefly and this does seem to be what they go for. I am sure others will chime in and say it is on the high side.

A single working unit went for $3,000 (more like $3,500+ after fees & taxes) at the last Namco auction in Ohio about 2 months ago. If you have the cash to make it happen, go for it.

You can import them from coinopexpress, but they want $5K for a single Mario Kart unit, not a two player. They want $6.5K for a Mario Kart 2 unit.

If it's in decent working condition, I would think $5,000 would be a good deal. I'm not entirely sure though. I know retail they go for over $10,000 new from some of the prices I've seen online. I had a thread recently asking if anyone owned one of these: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=121448

Man, if you end up getting it, that would be pretty sweet. Post pics if you do. :)

I'll wait 6 more years, and pick one up for $500 or less. . . . . <------- CHEEP . . .

a single unit went for $2000 yesterday at the ohio auction and the machine was not even there. the new owner needed to drive 5 hours each way to pick it up in indiana at some repair facility. I think it was some kind of shill bid.

I saw it listed and was hoping to check it out in person. That's why I couldn't find it! Wish that I knew that you were there. In my old age I cannot remember if I have ever met you in person. I was the large guy in blue with a mustache and a knit cap trying to sell a multicade.

Remember Amsterdammy and his Mario Kart he tried to flip here?

Most of the flame fest has been deleted, but many will still remember the fit he had when no one would buy his busted Mario Kart.

Summary of the fun:
1. ask, "how much is Mario Kart?"
2. KLOV-"oooh, ahhh, big $$$"
3. Go buy broken Mario Kart
4. ask, "Want to buy"?
5. KLOV-"no, thanks."
6. You all suck!!!

The thing is it IS worth big money, but who on here has that kind of money to drop on one? I'd rather get a nice pinball since that would hold its value better and I'd be less likely to get tired of it.

Yeah, make sure it is complete for that price. It was funny watching the previous guy try to sell it with missing boards and then get bent out of shape over the price discussion.

I cannot remember if I have ever met you in person.

We met at Larry's place about a year ago or so.

I left for a while 12:00-4:00 and missed that whole lot 100-200 section. my son wanted to go home so like a good dad i took him back home. I ended up with this HEAVY ASSed Sega Super GT. Cool game though, I like it better than daytona. I also have the topper but that was in the bed of the truck.

I got to spend some time with MK over the weekend @ my nephew's bday. The Chuck-E-Cheese we were at had it setup to 1 token play which was pretty cool. The game is fun do doubt, but after playing it for a while, I don't think its worth the price tag it comes with. There really isn't anything different (save for character options and the camera) from this game to the console game. It doesn't look any prettier, doesn't sound any better, and doesn't play any different IMO. It would be fun to own, no doubt, but I wouldn't pay $2K for it.

Its value is based on its earning potential for operators, not as a collectible.
