I have two Mario Carts games networked at the arcade I work for, and one of them is occasionally locking up.
The connections between the two machines are solid. The unit locks up on a random screen, and won't respond to test buttons or coin ups. I usually reset it by downpowering just that unit, and powering it back up.
I suspect it is talking to me - something is starting to go wrong. I know the top fan is working - I'm going to replace it in the near future like for like, and plan to clean out the backplane / pull / clean the CPU power supply, and do a quick test on it.
Any suggestions on what would cause this lockup (specific focus areas from experience) would be appreciated.
One last thought: Now that it is getting cooler, it seems to lock up less.
