I just bought a Mario Bros PCB to install in a VS Unisystem cabinet to replace VS Super Mario Bros. We built a conversion harness and the game comes up but the video is inverted. The monitor is a sanyo 20ez manufactured in 1984 and does not have an inverter board built on it.

What's the best way to correct the video output? I thought the VS Unisystem output was already inverted?

if you need it I have an inverter board, working, I could let you have for like $10 shipped. (back up plan)

Extracted from the site:

Undoing your changes -------------------- In the unlikely event that you need to put the PCB back in a Nintendo cabinet, it is very simple. You will need to once again close solder pad CL2 by putting a blob of solder on it - this will cause the board to generate inverted RGB signals again. You will also need to remove the blob of solder on solder pad SL1 - this will prevent the audio signal from being fed to the amplifier circuit. It's possible that removing the blob of solder on SL1 is not necessary - I think the board still generates unamplified audio on pin W even with the amplifier circuit in place, but I haven't verified this.

I don't know...looking at this picture, it appears that the bridge at CL2 has been scratched open, which would change the video color palette to normal output instead of inverted:

I'd get a close look at that jumper and drop a bead of solder on it to ensure that your video stays inverted. Maybe the board got scratched by accident or on purpose, who knows.

While you're at it, make sure that prom is seated correctly too.

Thanks again for everyone's help with this, I was able to re-connect the CL2 solder pad and it corrected the video.
