I thought I had pictures of this on my phone, but apparently not.. must be on the woman's phone instead. weird. anyway....

when I power on my Mario Bros. cab, it'll make the sounds, but the graphics are all corrupted and the game won't respond to any coin inputs so I'm gathering it's frozen.

the white border around MARIO BROS. is all that's really visible on the screen, it'll move down a little bit and just get stuck, and there's some text where I think the high scores would normally be, can't remember what it says, and that's probably not relevant anyway.

I found a RAM chip that was missing solder in half the holes, not entirely sure how the hell that was, cause the game did work fine for about 2 months before submitting to this. I reflowed that and another chip.

if it's worth mentioning, the guy I bought the board from didn't take the batteries out and they leaked in the battery holder. I desoldered the battery holder completely out and did the best I could with a scotch brite pad and like some alcohol to wipe the shit off. there are some soldered chips that have oxidation on the pins in the through-holes, I'm not entirely sure if that will affect their operation or not since they're soldered in. all socketed chips are squeaky clean, the only real thing I haven't tried is metering for +5, or if I did, that was many months ago and I can't remember what the readings were.

I don't THINK there's any acid damage, but you guys would know better. any other ideas on what I can try?

I would think the power supply might be the culprit, but I've operated Vs. boards on it and they worked fine. could it be certain voltages might not be outputting to run the Mario board?

FWIW, I've never capped any Nintendo power supply before. maybe now might be a good time to get on that. :p

that's all for now. thanks again.

EDIT: holy hell, I posted in the wrong forum.

Your just in the habit of posting help for everyone else in the monitors section, so much so that it comes as second nature to you now!!

:D

what's funny is I knew I was in the monitor section, but got caught up talking to someone else and was writing my post that I forgot to get out of it.

jayleone: I only have a Popeye left to borrow parts from. sold all my other stuff. I'll give it a try if I have time tomorrow.
