Hey all,

I figured I'd start this thread to document my progess in deconverting my Mario Bros. widebody from Skins Golf and restoring it back to its rightful Mario Bros. form. This restoration/deconvert is lower on my priority list as I am practicing my restoring elsewhere so when it comes time for the dirty work (sanding, bondo-ing, sanding some more, and painting) on the widebody I'll be ready to do the best job I can.

I didn't want to spoil the surprise but many will be happy to hear I did decide to go the original route and paint it the correct orange. In fact, I'll probably use the translucent veneer kit Phett did if it's still for sale.

Anyway, here's a before pic and some with my new bezel installed (thanks garagearcadecom).

Nice looking bezel. It is scratched up at all? hard to tell from the pics.

Yeah, I had to take the pics with my galaxy s2 from an angle due to another machine being in the way. There's not really any scratches. There's maybe one light streak/smudge/scratch down the middle diagonally but it's so barely noticeable that I probably won't even try to buff it out.

Other than that above the top left turtle you can see a little tiny bit of wear (note the white spot) but overall this bezel is sweet condition! I am very happy with my purchase.

My brother and i finished our Mario Bros restoration a few weeks ago, the cab was almost as beat up as yours but it came out great.

So good luck, i'm sure it's going to be beautiful!

Well, the original cabs didn't have orange vinyl on the sides...

Naaah, just yanking your chain man! That's great that you decided to go with the original colors. I'll bet that once you're finished you'll be pleased with your decision. I have a beat MB widebody cab that I'll get around to restoring one of these days (or years ;)). I was going to point you to this thread, but I see you've already ordered one. Good luck, and post lots of progress pics!
