I was successful in finding a Nintendo cab for my Mario Bros. kit, I have to buy up some hardware for it (screws, monitor mount brackets and such) and replace the base, in addition to other cosmetic items on it.

my questions however are in regards to the cab being EMPTY, meaning I have no monitor or wiring to start with.

I was thinking the easiest approach would be to get a JAMMA adapter for it, and wiring it up with a regular JAMMA harness. MikesArcade sells one of these and it has the video inverter and sound amp built in, so I should be able to use any ordinary monitor with it right? (the purpose is to be able to play Nintendo games in any JAMMA cab after all, yes?)

I have a 19" Wells VGA monitor that has virtually zero use on it, so the next question is, what are those RGB to VGA converters like? I know this sounds boneheaded and I should just find a standard res one, but is this even remotely doable? it's just sitting on the shelf in my tech room, and I have no use for it otherwise, unless someone here needs one. :)

also, if I buy the Nintendo horizontal monitor brackets off quarterarcade.com, will only the Sanyo EZ fit that, or is that a universal mount for anything else you throw in there horizontal orientation?

and if someone has original hardware (the original wiring harnesses, power supply, cage, etc.) and the like they've got to sell, I'll buy it. I have a lot of work to do on the cab first before I even think of wiring it up. missing the Nintendo board cage is kind of putting a damper on things too.

I'd like to keep it original, but I don't know what the scarcity of said items is like, so I was thinking JAMMA wouldn't hurt.

thanks.

nah, weekends are just a tough time to be posting. especially in the mid-summer when a lot of people are away from home or otherwise occupied outside.

i'm posting only 'cuz i'm waiting for the coals to heat... we're grilling some steaks for dinner.

Those monitor brackets are designed for the Sanyo moniitors. Not sure if any other monitors will fit, but I like to think something can be fabricated (home brewed) if it dosent fit.

Are you putting a Mario Bros. original PCB in there? Why not find an original harness? Im sure someone here has one to spare.

not to derail the thread but will any other monitor fit in a nintendo cab with a vertically oriented monitor? I have never tried before

well, I think Bob's got one. I bought flynn54321's kit, came with an ultra sweet Nintendo-Pak box, bezel (which I cleaned up the scratches with Novus 2 nicely), CP (full controls), marquee, and the 2-board PCB set.

parts I need for my cab I picked up yesterday are monitor brackets, and as such, monitor too, wiring harness, power supply, and the PCB cage. not sure where I'm going to pull those up from, but the cab's gonna need a little work first anyway.

would it be wise of me to strip the black paint that went over the original Popeye blue first before repainting? it's very uneven now, lots of rough and smooth spots in the black paint. probably gonna need a little sanding in spots. I also have to cut a back door, which isn't a problem, I have my "good" Popeye to use as a model.

I have a 19" WG VGA monitor that was improperly installed in our SW Ep1 pinball (stupid hacks we bought our equipment from) that I'd be willing to trade for a 19" Sanyo, but I don't see any major market for a 19" VGA, unless it were for a MAME project.

might sound a little outlandish, but is there any way I could rig that up for this through some kind of RGB->VGA adapter, or am I completely off my rocker with that one?
