I was just gonna post a pic of my orange Mario Bros solution. This is Rustoleum 'Rich Orange' in a Semi-Gloss Oil-based Industrial paint:

Looks pretty damned spot on. I have another query. Does my base look too high? I tried to get it right but I think my dimensions might be off a bit.

You're effing with us right?....

Is that Rich Orange an off the shelf color? Never seen it but I really like it. Of course I live in CA so it may be near impossible to find any variety in oil based paint. Anyone know the law? Would it be illegal for someone outside CA to get oil based paint and ship it to me?

It is an off the shelf yellow tint base that Rustoleum sells. They then have a small brochure with the limited color swatches that can be achieved with each tint base in this series. The swatch was actually lighter looking than the paint chip I brought in to color match, but when I got the actual paint on the cab, it was darker than it's swatch would have you led you to believe and is almost exact.

You should seriously consider repro'ing bases for Nintendo cabs. You do stellar work, and that base looks freaking perfect.

That thing has high heels! Just the sort of kinky restro you would expect from the Phet.

Very nice paint. :D

The color is Perfect! Seriously, you are joking about the base? What I have done in the past on my Nintendo cabinets is use 2x4's vertically cut the ends at a 45 to make my base the height is perfect that way.

ANother dissapointing Phet resto thread ... yaaaaaawwwn lol
Looks good Phet. Hey - is that MB orange the same as the DKJR orange?

And yes that base is perfect - to accomodate Shaq

Why show the paint when you are going to vinyl over it anyway? You suck at life.

Nice!

I love all of the MB WB talk since i'm getting ready to bring back this $50 cab I got. Great info folks... damn... i'm in Ca.

That color does look good. I searched for a good color myself and was sadly never able to come close. My local Home Depot doesn't mix oil base and the guys at Sherwin Williams were dicks. I ended up getting some spray paint that was pretty close. I figure you won't notice as I'm vinyling over it anyway. I guess I'll find out when I get to that point.
With all the talk about MB widebody bases I thought I'd link to my post I made about the dimensions. I have since come to realize that 3 3/8" is actually more acurate than 3 1/2" as far as the base height is concerned. It allows the wheels to touch the ground flush when the cab is seated.

The home depot near where I live in CA still sells quarts of oil based paint but nothing else. Lowes doesn't carry any oil based paint anymore.
