We all knew Pratts voice was going to be terrible but I'm surprised how bad Bowsers voice is. 

I disagree about Bowser. I thought Bowser stole the show in the trailer. He does a fantastic job and had I not known it was him prior, I wouldn't have guessed it was Jack Black.

I also thought Kamek and Toad's voices were perfect. The king penguin voice was also fantastic.

I was expecting the voice to be a bit more....growly?
I want to say they are probably still tweaking the dialogue and accent and a few short lines is basically there for a feedback device...or a PR stint nowhere near as close to touching the sun as that first Sonic trailer was.

I absolutely LOVE Chris Pratt in all the GotG stuff and his normal movies are spot on too. His voice in those has always been fine and "honest" to me. Very fitting. I too though thought for sure he'd f*ck up Mario... but from what I heard (which was very little), tbh, if I removed my preconceived notion, I thought it was very fitting. And if you listen close, what I hear is a very very slight Italian *American* accent.

I just want to remind you though, we all heard very little of his voicing so far. And IMO I thought Jack Black was spot on. (when is he not?) So this must come down to a opinion thing.

So many people either forgot or don't know Super Mario Bros. was the sequel, not the first. It seems to be the Rodney Dangerfield of the franchise.

I don't think anyone forgets. I sure don't and I know 95% of gamers don't either. BUT Super Mario Bros is when he truly came to life. SMB is a better movie cause there is so much more to base the movie off and around. WTF would a MB movie be and be about ? lol

I can't explain it, but when Bowser says "I do not (yield)" he looks like Jack Black. Must've done some mocap for that animation. Pretty cool.

Yea I thought that was great too. And it also made me know, we are just seeing/hearing the tip of the iceberg.

Ill give it a go. I do wonder what this will do for marios voice moving forward in the games.

Well as I pointed out above, IMO I think the accent is still there. Its just far more slight and barely even noticeable on a few words. But I think they are still doing it. I wouldn't worry much, when anyone is in America long enough and in Hollywood as a big star long enough, their accent eventually fades a little. So to me, it's fitting.

I remember getting tricked by the internet into watching Sonic 2 as it was "a good adaptation". Which yes it was, but it was also for kids and extremely cringy. I will not be fooled again. That opening bit told me that I'd probably hurl myself into an incoming train if I had to watch the whole film.

Mario Bros could be a kick ass action movie. DK or Bowser locks them in a tower in some dystopian world like the 2012 Dredd movie. The bros have to fight their way to the top overcoming obstacles and all the game enemies.

Very true. But neither DK nor Bowser was really a villain in MB. This is what I kinda mean. True story and larger landscapes never developed until SMB (IMO).

I do like where you are going with this though, and I agree.. But it would need to take place in the New York sewers IMO. As that is what the game is based on. Starts off as weird creatures coming out the sewers, so the city hires these 2 no name plumbers (and one used to be a construction worker) to investigate. And as they enter, the adventure begins. This could be a prequel movie I guess to what they are making now.

But I stand behind the fact that SMB just has more "meat and potatoes" to go on as far as movies. I think its why they start there. Thats all I was saying.

They really couldnt have gotten Martinet to even do JUST Mario?

Should have been Danny Devito to have Frank and Charlie as Mario and Luigi

Chris Pratt cannot do voices and it really shows here, by far the weakest part of this trailer is Mario, which is a problem given he's the main character. We don't hear any of Charlie Day but I have to imagine he'll sound fine, and all the other voices in the trailer are great. Visually it looks fantastic, the Mario model is a little off but it looks fine in motion. I think the faces are supposed to look vaguely like their actors, it's especially noticeable with Luigi.

Well I think the nominee's for best male voice actor in Lego's and Onward movies might disagree with you there. Considering he was invited to come back. And is doing more in the pipeline. Agreed they prob could have gotten someone better for Mario in this upcoming movie, but I do not know where the hatred for all of Chris Pratt's voicings ever is coming from here ?
