Is there one out there already? I have a friend that is getting a Mario Bros board that probably doesn't want to spend the money on the Braze high score kit that would like to have freeplay without having to set it after every boot up. Do you know if such a rom hack exists? I haven't been able to find anything useful via google.

Thanks!
Gary

I bought the Braze kit since I wasn't able to find a hack like you described. That being said, I really like the Braze kit and think it's worth the money for the freeplay and high-score save.

The Braze kit is awesome. I have one myself, but I'm not sure that the person that this for is going to want to spend the money on it.

I don't think one exists and would likely cost more than $45 of someones time to do it.
I would just have him buy the kit, a small investment for some great features

I haven't gotten around to buying the high score kit yet. That being said, for freeplay I have wired up the second player button to the coin up switch (in the coin door). Hit 2 player button once and then 1 player once. You get a 1 player game. Hit 2 player twice and you get a 2 player game.

My MB boardset has a battery holder for (I believe) 3 AA batteries. Fresh batteries should save your freeplay setting but I have heard it wont save high scores. I never did find out, as I for one am against batteries on boardsets. So I opted for the Braze kit, worth every penny.
