I have a Mario bros kit, I have been looking for a cabinet to put it in.
I found a VS. golf cabinet. The pictures look the same. Are these cabinets any different???

if it is a blue or orange nintendo cabinet then the kit should work fine.

if it is a dedicated white vs cabinet then I don't know if it will fit. the kits were designed to fit the dk or dkjr cabs.

Dedicated VS. Unisystem cabinets had their own design that resembled the classic Nintendo cabinet (Donkey Kong style). This design was also used for R-Type. However, most VS. machines you come across are conversion kits applied to classic Nintendo cabinets.

Dedicated Mario Bros. cabinets had their own design which resembled the classic Nintendo cabinet; the main difference being that they were wider (wide-body). However, many Mario Bros. machines are conversion kits applied to classic Nintendo cabinets.

So if your Mario Bros. kit is an official kit (rather than parts stripped from a dedicated wide-body) and the VS. Golf machine is a conversion of a classic Nintendo cabinet, then you should be all set.

There was a Mario Bros conversion kit that was used in the VS styled cabinet.
The wide body hardware required it's own dedicatecated cabinet.

Mario Bros, or Super Mario Bros?

Here is a pic, I go look at it in a hour. looks like the sides are orange.

Just make sure your Mario Bros. kit is an actual conversion kit and not parts pulled from a dedicated (wide-body) Mario Bros. If they are parts from a dedicated Mario Bros., your control panel, bezel, and marquee will all be too wide for that DK Jr. cabinet.

I got a Mario Bros. kit too (even in the original Nintendo Pak box!) and as soon as I get time to do some bondo work (and more sanding) on this rough and parted out Popeye cab I will be doing the same thing.

I lack a power supply for it though. I've seen some units on quarterarcade, I even have a guy that has untold gazillions or parts, but we'll see.

good luck dude.

The machine works perfect, the monitor is sweet. cabinet is nice. the golf game is kinda fun too. So this is a DK Jr Cab? I might just make it DK jr again. with the conversions will it have the original harness?? Its locked no keys so I will have to drill it.

This is my first nintendo cab, so im not sure what to look for.
I might see if I can trade the Mario stuff for DKJ stuff:)

are all the VS games plug and play??

If it still has its original Nintendo lock (Ace-style tubular lock), any Nintendo key will open it (key code K6510). Do you know anyone with a Nintendo cabinet? Or maybe someone here has a spare Nintendo key they could send you.

Nice pick up! some of the harnesses you need should be there, but the power and control panel harnesses were probably changed. At least they were in my Mario in a DKJr cab. As far as the games it's just swapping some chips and away you go. $75 for a nintendo cab is dirt cheap so you really scored! - Barry
