Hi everyone I was looking at a Mario Bros cab that has a bad pcb. The seller wants $250 and the body is in very good condition with all side art and control panel overlay ect. He claims the monitor works and everything else. Assuming this would be just wrong but theres a chance with how nice the cab looks. Anyone think this is a good/bad deal? or average?

Worse case I would have to replace/fix the monitor and replace/fix the pcb. Would it be worth it is basically what I am asking.

Thanks Robert

Depends if its a converted mario bros from a dk style cab or is it original wide body...if its wide body and very nice they are worth more and less common...for a conversion you could get a working game for the same price if you hunt for a while.

So I would say conversion not great deal if not working...but wide body worth getting if everything is there and fixing.

It's a widebody if it's the one I'm thinking of in MN ;)

CPO is wasted and needs replacing, bezel is moderately scratched up, monitor has vertical collapse, and the pcb is deader than a doornail. Cab also has a small but major chip on one side near the back. I passed and advise you do the same - it's a money pit.

Thanks for the heads up! I thought it would be too good to be true since he still has it a week after the initial posting. Just curious though when did you check it out ballytablewiz?

I hate when people aren't honest when they are selling stuff. It would have cost me at least $50 to drive there and the disappointment would have been worse!

unless the cab had water damage i would pick it up myself. all that stuff is easily fixable. its just how much you want to spend fixing it.

I went to see it the first day, made a fair offer and was rejected by the wife. She insists on the $250, even though she bought it at a yard sale, enjoyed it for 12 years, then broke it :)

And it's not that they're not honest, they're just stupid. I was very reasonable about my intents, it's value, and the amount of money and work it will require to end up in one of our hands (the only ones who can fix it).

Indeed it is. But by the time you rip off (and subsequently buy and replace) the sideart to redo the cab damage, replace the CPO and bezel, repair or replace the PCB, and overhaul the monitor - you're up shit creek and into a machine for 2x what it costs to buy in a completed state. I own a working PCB and plenty of monitors, and I still passed. Frankly, the offer I did give was too damn high. There's a reason it's still around, good deals disappear fast.
