I bought a Mario Bros board as is (not tested) for a back up for my arcade. When I installed the board everything works except for the sound. The only sound I hear is when Mario is walking. No other sounds. Can this be repaired on the board? What does need repaired? Where to get parts for the board to fix the sound?

6k is the rom that stores the music. Start by reading this eprom and verifying it with romident and if all is good slap that puppy back in and check the data and adress lines to see if there si any activity at all. If there all dead than check the custom chip labeled m58715 its only avalable in mario bros, Look for a good clock signal and votages were they should be. If all the voltages on the chip look good then change it. good luck

Thanks for your help. I found them on the board. Where do you get new chips at if I need to replace it? Im sorry if Im not up to date with my electronic terms can u explain some of the terms how you check it. Like... reading the eprom and verifying it with romident (I'm lost on what to do)? I also have a working board in my arcade right now so I can switch the chips from the boards to see if it fix the problems.

yes you can just switch chips from one board to another, just watch your the direction you take them out and put them in the exact same way. Also try not to bent the pins. As far as reading the emprom you need to have a programmer to so that.
