just made a trade for a descent vs super mario bros

guy was asking like 250 for it or trade
my cousin gave me a descent 3.0 ghz dual core pc a few weeks ago ive been using in the shop but i got a laptop so i really did not need the desktop (needed the room also lol)
so i put it in a nice new case i had lying around and threw a good sound card in it and offerd it in trade and he bit

so without further adu here is my 20$ mario brothers lol

over all not to bad the cabs in great shape but its missing the coin mechs and someone hacked a coin up button behind the coin return button
needs a cap kit bad (jail bars and the brightness pot does nothing ) but no burn and it plays perfect
cpo is great and the moulding is descent enough i dont need to replace it

here is my 2 bros side by side

now a ?
is there any dedicated bezl for the vs mario or was it just a black one

Nice looking machine.

None of the vs games have dedicated bezels, but I believe a memeber on here made custom ones for a couple games, I believe SMB and Dr Mario. Can't remember who though.

But usually they are just tinted plexi, or a flipped around DK bezel.

All I can see sitting there is a dk jr waiting to be brought back to life and some spare vs parts to sell :)

Phet designed the bezels, and billybob printed them. billybob is now MIA, so who knows if anyone will ever get them again.

lol i wish i had a dk or dk jr board set to stuff in it
after a little digging into the machine someone has replaced the original marquee light with a standard fixture but its plugged into the 100 v socket in the cab
do i need to fret over this or is the only thing that can hapen due to this is the fixture will fail sooner (ie can this damage the power brick)

It will just go out sooner, but honestly I wouldn't worry about it. How often are these things on anyway? All of my Nintendo's have had that, and I have yet to replace a bulb.

Agreed.

Also, I don't think that Super Mario Bros. or any other side-scrolling platform game makes for a good arcade game. Those are the kind of games you want to sit on the couch to play IMO.

any game in an arcade cab is worth playing who wants to be a lazy ars and sit on a couch to play games pluss screw using a game pad darn little dinky things i want to be able slap the controlls around and mash buttons not press some little joy pad and tap on sme little buttons

lol its kinda funny the nabor hood kids were out playing in the noabors yard behind our house ,while iwas hauling it around to the back.
got the game inside pluged it in and was testing out the game and i heard a bunch of foot steps out side my door in the rocks turned around and had 5 little heads poking around the door jam lol

they about shit when i said come on in and take a look (one offerd me 200$ for the super mario lol)

Great score, FYI, if you turn down the flyback brightness a bit the horizontal/simi diagonal lines will disappear. Plus the picture will probably look a bit less washed out and more colorful.

Also, it looks like it has early onset jail bars, a cap kit is most likely in your future.
I love my Vs. SMB. It's fun and definitely the fav when I have company over.

gregatron
yea i new it needed a cap kit the brightness pot does nothing (didnt realise it had a brightness on the flyback the flyback is so buried on the ez20 i never even looked)
so hopefully the fly will at least get rid if the white lines as for the slight jail bars i can deal with that for now

i ahve a couple of wg 19 inchers im going to use to break my full cap kit cherry on
then ill rebuild bolth of my ez20's

welove80s

as for the mechs go for em im totaly flat on my ass broke untill i sell a multi or one of the neo geo cabs i have (i really should not have even used the gas to go pick up this mario but i couldent pass it up for the 10$ i had invested in that computer)

me and my dad have been jamming the hell out of the mario cabs tonnight he was on the wide body and me on the new one what a blast

man why do i have a feeling im going to end up with a popye and at least a dk by the end of the fall lol hopefully i can get this warehouse space i have been workign on getting

EDIT
indeed it was the fly brightness they had it cranked all the way to hide the super bad jail bar going on i adjusted it so there is no horz white line and there in only minimal jail barz (the brightness on the chassis also works now lol

thanks for the heads up

So you'd want to play something like Super Metroid on an arcade machine? That'd be a fun 8 hours or so, standing in front of an arcade machine. I think wall jumping would be difficult with a joystick too, especially a Nintendo joystick.

i want to be able slap the controlls around and mash buttons not press some little joy pad and tap on sme little buttons

Are you one of those frantic arcade machine players that looks like you're trying to invent a new dance? I've never understood why people do that. I'm "methodical" when I play video games; at least that's how Robert Mruczek described the way I play after watching my SPO submission video. I'd try the frantic approach if I could figure out how it is supposed to help.

i play vs metroid on my mame rig all the time
and no i dont jump around while playing but its great to have the full throw when playing using your whole arm/wrist to move the stick instead of your thumb
i just preffer to play using arcade controls i hate the small ass game pads and its just way more fun standing in front of the cab playing with the nice glow from the marquee

i used to be a console fan but its just not the same id rather play a game on the pc or on my mame cab (i have gameex as my front end and and it can launch any .exe so any game that does not use 2 analog controlls i play on it )
console games have shitty graffix compared to their pc counterparts and usually have more online support (more players in one game more servers faster png times ect)
i have a bud that swears up and down his 360 has better graffix than any pc game (what a joke) even when i have showed him the frame rate diffrence

and again there is just nothing like the feel of a quality arcade stick and thoes big buttons

i also like marathon gaming nothing beats standing for 8-12 hours in fromt of a machine just to finish a game its better than siting on your couch getting a beer gut and a flat ass from sitting on it for so long (its no wonder kids are so fat these days )

i grew up with arcade games as a kid and its great to have my own games now since the actual arcades no longer exist out here all we have is dave and busters and its just crap

ps you do know they make these nice chairs they call stools right so the lazy people dont have to stand while playing their games (they even make them now with backs )

Ugh. I hate NES Metroid, especially if I had to play it on an arcade machine with a Nintendo 8-way. BTW, I don't think NES Metroid has wall jumping, does it?

I like NES and SNES gamepads. I don't feel handicapped at all using them. I like using the controllers that were intended to be used with a given game; i.e., joysticks for arcade games and gamepads for NES and SNES games.

You'd be a good factory worker. Standing in one spot for long periods of time sucks six ways from Sunday.

i grew up with arcade games as a kid

So did I; but I also knew that Super Mario Bros. was a console game.

Playing an arcade game on a stool sucks too. They are intended to be played standing up; at least the U.S. uprights are.

BTW, very few people like standing in one spot for many hours at a time, and it has nothing to do with being "lazy". Do you stand up when you're using your PC, watching TV or a movie, eating supper, reading a book, etc.?

Looks to be a solid cab. Good score! I should have a DK Jr. PCB for sale soon if you need one.

i even stand up when i shit cause im almost as tough as chuck norris

blkdog7
yea im verry happy with the cab its overall verry nice now if i could jsut get a damn machine that does not ned a cap kit lol

got 9 working machine now but 3 need cap kits

is the vs boards like the mario and dk boards where i have to use the ez20 (inverted vid)
or an i use one of my spare wg monitors untill i can afford a cap kit
(actually ill probaly run the monitors down to my arcade guy since he has an inline cap tester and should have the caps on hand wich is better than replacing all the caps)
