I searched the forums but came up zilch. I have an original MM control panel harness and new Happ 3" trackballs, with the red optic boards. The up/down works, but the left/right is the opposite of what should happen. If I son the ball left, the ball goes right. I'm sure this has come up before, so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

Not 100% on this but I thought I remember reading that the happ track
Was wired different then the original Atari tracks

And you need to swap the wire in the molex to make it correct ??

I just created this little cheat sheet...hope it helps.

I finally figured out how to make it work through experimentation... No amount of swapping the blue/violet and yellow/green wires worked, UNTIL I swapped the 4 pin opti connectors on each track ball. Then I swapped one blue/violet wire on one track ball and had to rotate one trackball 90 degrees and then I was all set... Very frustrating but if anyone need my exact pin outs and a pic of the underside mounting let me know... I would donor now, but after removing my panel about 25 times to experiment, one more time is more than I can handle at the moment:)

Sure - I will post here shortly with the pin outs and the pics. I think there is obviously a way to get he wires hooked up to avoid having to rotate the one trackball 90 degrees, and I my get to it someday, but, trying to figure it out without having a conceptual understanding of how the controls work, well... its like trying to crack a safe...

Also - for anyone interested, KLOV member Level99 hooked me up with a really sweet reproduction harness that was perfect - wires were color coded like the original schematics and it also came with the right connectors for the original cone buttons and the RFI filters.

Don't know when I'll get around to it but I appreciate
Any posted info on the subject

Also got a harness from 99
Awesome product great price good guy

This thread was helpful guys. Much appreciated! I read that some of you got stuck having to rotate your trackball housing. I had similar issues but avoided it.

Basically what I did was swap connectors going to the left and right side of the red opto boards and then flipped the location of the 2 outside wires. That did the trick for me but was definitely a time consuming things trying out all of those different combos.

Here it is in a video I did of it being done for people who need to do it in the future where it jumps to the exact spot:
