I'm getting: ROM error 10000 U
checked this in the manual and it says to replace ROM at 13E. The problem is my board doesn't match the one illustrated in the manual, AND 13E isn't really matching up 100% to where a ROM would be located. I checked another working MM board and its COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, ugh.

I take it one board must be an early rev...but HTF am I supposed to trust the manual with suggested ROM locations when they don't match up? Any ideas?

This is the bad board.... 13 E is where I should replace the ROM. Now, I see a ROM under 14E, or is the edge where 13E starts?

This is my good board.... a TAD different.

I welcome any suggestions on where to start.

Did you check chip legs yet? I had my MM go down and pulled out the card and started popping chips out and cleaning the legs with a pencil eraser. There was a lot of black corrosion on the chips after that the PCB fired right up again. I have both versions of the MM Cards as well and One of mine doesn't work still haven't got back to the spare to figure it out.

Here is a few of my past MM posts:

try looking through the manual for the part numbers for the roms. Reference the part number of the rom located at 13E, then cross that number to the rom on your board- there's your culprit. (in theory at least). You can always pull each rom one at a time and verify them with a burner as well. While ya got em out, give em a good cleaning, and check the sockets with a magnifying glass as well.

Just went through all of this... unfortunately, its not always that simple. It depends on the ROM version you have...

For my board, 13E is ROM 323. unfortunately, the other board does not have that ROM # on it. It does, however, have ROM #203 (which I think is the correct one). It is located at 12B. Check that chip (do a verification against the MAME ROM with a burner).

I am in the process of putting all this together. I even have a boardset that does not match any of the MAME ROMs (2 slightly different ones, in fact).

based on damons pic and the 2nd thread you listed, the 2 chips you cleaned are not used in the MM board.

Not sure which is 13e, but I would guess its the one with the burned eprom.

Thanks for the hi-rez, Shill. Your board matches up exactly to mine. I will begin cleaning and reseat'ing chips. In the meantime, wouldn't it make sense if the manual (which doesn't reflect the correct board rev) which stated a possible fault ROM at 13E actually have a ROM at that location.

Maybe I'm asking for things to be simple....still I find it amusing there's NOTHING at the intersection of 13 and E.

My pleasure. Let me know if your ROMs match the MAME ROMs.

I agree about the manual. It is specific to the board of the type below (I have not found any other revs of the manual):
