looking to purchase a simple all in one lighted trackball setup for marble madness. I have found a whole bunch of happ stuff and I know you can convert and ive found some atari stuff but not lighted unless you purchase a seperate card from somewhere else. anyone know of a simple all in one setup where i can just purchase blue and red illuminated trackball complete setups?

Hmm I'm not sure if you can but it's super simple to illuminate the trackballs. The hardest part is running a pair of wires. I just ran my power straight to the switcher so the balls are illuminated anytime the game is on.

Maybe check out twisted quarter.. see what they offer..
Checked. He offers happ trackballs. Says they work with marble madness but saw other people on here say all sorts of things from just switching a couple wires to checking out this whole chart all the way to changing the orientation of the trackballs entirely.

I feel like this should exist? It seems like a rather common mod right? Ya I've done that on my golden tee but I really just wanted something legit on this one...

First off I sell new trackballs and the balls

Second I would wire in a dedicated 12v supply switcher

I don't like adding anything extra to their power supply

I saw some of your posts and went to your website but you only sell the happ trackballs. I'm looking for atari ones. I believe they use different setups right. Do you sell them configured to atari as well?

This may be obvious, but I don't see it mentioned in this thread yet, your balls need to be translucent, or else the light wont shine through.
The game comes with solid balls.

I had one that I swapped to lit balls, my current one I left solid. I feel like the solid balls are harder and roll better, but that's just my perception.

Yes they will need to be translucent I do agree with you. The trackballs I have now I believe are original and don't roll the best. They roll OK but not great. I thought I would buy a whole new set instead of individual parts and I have seen a few on here where they have the red and blue ball lit up and it just looks soooo cool so I figured since I'm getting new this would be the time to go translucent lit up version.

Now I did not think about them rolling any different? That is a huge factor and something for me to definitely take into consideration. Does anyone else have any experience with this, because this could definitely change my purchase. Thank you for the insight.

What makes the biggest difference is if your rollers and bearings are shot. I would suggest you take apart your existing balls and see what the condition inside is like. The bearings should spin freely, the housing should not be cracked, and the rollers are supposed to look like || not )(.

Just cleaning out the insides and lubing the bearings with a light oil can go a long way.

did all this, and its definitely better. ended up using bearings and rollers from donor trackball setups as well so that i could have the best of the best of what I had in this marble madness. I am much much happier with it, but I go to these bars and see the golden tees there and that trackball spins soooooooooo nice its insane and I feel like the only way I will get something that sweet is to buy new.
