I do not recall this happening back in the day...

Does anyone occasionally hit their fingers on the part of the speaker grate that comes down over the CP? While unlikely, it seems you could get a good scrape. The edge is not smooth.

I had a guest do it and I've done it once or twice myself.

It seems to only be possible when rolling upward and being aggressive at it.

Dont think the grate is supposed to be "rough". Paint over time on the speaker grill has probably started to come and become jagged. My RB is smooth on part and jagged on the other part where paint is coming off.

Thanks.

Perhaps I didn't use the right word. The grate has "teeth" based on the holes and where it ends. While these aren't really sharp, if you forcefully rub a finger across it ... you can get a little scrape.

Yeah the control panel goes onto of it. If you hit anything you should only be hitting the part that starts to incline up toward the monitor which is not sharp or shouldn't be sharp at all.

Shouldn't this edge that you're referring to go up under the control panel?

OMG!

Mine is installed wrong!!! That's exactly the problem. Duh. Need to go back and see if it came that way or if I just put it together wrong.

<... looking at old pics ... looking ... looking ... looking... ding>

Well. All my fault. Heading down to fix it now. Thanks everyone.

BTW, you can see it installed incorrectly here. Notice how close the grill is to the start cones... This pict is before I redid the CP overlay, but the angle shows how it is setup incorrectly better than the other pics I have)

Yeah! Much better now... With the "grating" problem resolved, I was able to be much more aggressive with the trackball...

Got my highest score... 56,640. Was about 5 seconds away from winning when time ran out.

Sadly, I haven't won the game since I've owned it... but I used to frequently win back in the mid 80s! I blame my skill deteriation on the incorrect gate install ;)

Again, thanks.
