Mappy to Dig Dug 2 - Has Anyone Actually Done It?

Thanks for all of the discussion and testing in this thread.

We resolved our issues yesterday and now have a working Dig Dug 2 boardset.

The two issues that prevented our boardset from fully working as a Dig Dug 2 were:

- 4C has to be 82C129, not 82S126
- Awful timing, but pin 12 was stuck high on the adjacent 74LS158, so it was replaced

Once these two changes were made, the boardset worked as Dig Dug 2.

As part of the testing, we also confirmed that 5K and 3M do work with 82S126, but 3M also worked with a 82S129. JROK mentioned previously in the thread that 3M has to be a 82S129, but we found an 82S126 also worked. Maybe a quirk, but there it is...

Hopefully, the above information, combined with the other testing and information posted in this thread, flushes out the documentation for this conversion. Again, thanks to everyone for this great thread. Looks like all that remains is confirming how the second Player button works, presumably on two different boardsets (Midway vs. Namco?).

Does p1b2 work on yours ?
Can you post pics of your boards compared to mine ?

On the original DD2 board pins 3 and 4 ( from right size 'Z' ) are bridged together ( these are P1 button B2 drill ) also there is no DIP switch 'B' at 5E. Keep all those set to off.

Add to this... P1 B2 "Drill" is pin 30 on 56xx @4C this maps to "X" on the Mappy ( or Dig Dug 2 ) edge connector, I assume P2 B2 is Mapped to pin 20 on the underside. I've never tried cocktail mode as I utterly despise cocktails.

Edit: if you check the Mappy schematics CPU board on the very bottom left is 4C custom "58" ( or "56" if you've done the conversion ) and there are 4 inputs TEST, TABLE/CT and two unused.

Plus I have no idea why two edge fingers are bridged on the DD2 board ( someone made a harness wrongly ??? )

Confirmed on conversion if you bridge 3rd and 4th from Z corner of edge that p1b2 works.

Will poke at cocktail next just to put this to bed.

I used a zero ohm resistor just to make deconversion a bit less messy. I was trying to find some mini switches I have to make it switchable but lost interest in digging and used the 0ohm instead.

Confirmed bridge on 3rd and 4th from edge on solder side will activate p2b2 in cocktail mode also.

No vias close by or neat enough locations to get it done more cleanly so I just bridged low on edge so it wouldn't interfere with adapter.

I think we can call this one put to bed ?

@jrok thanks for digging up old notes and chiming in, and thanks as always for your help in general on these things.
