I know that I've seen people post stuff like that here before. IIRC, it was mentioned that it wasn't uncommon for them to reuse pieces on hand to complete other cabs.

I'm restoring a Mappy too and my bottom panel is the same! I did some research, The game on the bottom is Solar Fox. A less than stellar Bally/Midway game from 81-82. Apparently they didn't sell enough and had empty cabinets laying around so they cut them up for the bottom of the early Mappy's.

Mine is serial number #221 (the cab is particle board) I also have a Mappy #3399 and that is an MDF cab with a normal blank bottom panel.

Here's where it gets interesting, on the inside of mine it is written in pretty dark marker,
"Bottom's"
"Mappy-U.R."
"?00 PCS."

The only pic I have is a zoomed in one from a full pic of the back. The darn wood that holds the pcb in place is glued over the top of the first digit of the number. Could be 100.. could be 500, 900? Figure it took 1 solar fox to make 2 panels. I doubt they wrote that on every single piece? So mine might be the first or the first of a batch of mappy's with the SF bottom on it. Does yours say anything on the inside on the bottom? I've heard from several people that have a Solar Fox bottom panel, but I don't know their serial numbers. What's Yours? Good luck with your restore!

Great info Thanks. Got a pic of my S/N.
The bottom of my cab was so dirty (mice) I had to take a SOS pad and Clorox to it.
If I would of known I would been more cautious and looked for it, But there is nothing now.
It would have been cool the see.
Once again thanks and good luck with your restore.

It makes one wonder how many Solar Fox's Cabs were destroyed.
If Nondrowsy S/N is 221 and my is 1620 that's a lot of Solar Fox's.
You think ??

A small update

Cant wait to put the art work on

Solar Fox! Great maze style game, MCR, mirror and black light background. Flight stick like TRON. I miss mine.

All Done

Long weekend

That looks like it just came from Bally Factory...very nice job..

I lucked out and found a NOS Happy bezel and Marquee way back when I cleaned up my original..luckily my cab didn't need restoration just new t-molding and new cpo...new monitor and cleaned inside..

Where did you get the bezel..that looks great..I wasn't aware of anyone reproducing them...but I have been out of the loop for a while so maybe I missed that one..?

Thank You
