Hey everyone. A couple of weeks ago, I took down my Classic Games/MAME blog as I no longer have time to dedicate to updating it and I hate when blogs sit idle, old and unattended.

But I got lots of messages and emails from folks who still wanted to go thru some of the content. So, while I still feel the same about leaving unattended and un-updated blogs up, I do realize that I took it down abruptly and without warning. So, I'm gonna make it available again for the next month ('til the end of April) so that those who give a crap can have a little more time to check out additional games and stuff. I appreciate all your feedback and if you find a new game you love because of it, please let me know!

As of May 1st, I'll be taking it down.

I also wanted to ask you guys to please add comments to the blog - especially on the Games of the Day - I'm very interested to hear whether I helped you find a gem or that you think I'm a moron for liking the game.

Thanks.

Seems like the content is mostly timeless, and could benefit anybody looking for info on the games you wrote about. I enjoyed my visit there just now, and learned about some games I wouldn't have otherwise looked at. A final "I'm not updating any longer but enjoy what is here" message would work well. Suggest that you keep it around.

Thanks for the input. I've actually gotten lots of email with the same sentiment, may try to figure out a way to leave it up that I'm comfortable with.

Maybe you could have every page load with some sort of banner at the top telling them that the blog has been left up for archive purposes but that you no longer update it.

I saved all the pages in firefox and if you don't mind I can zip that up and make it available publicly from my dropbox for anyone who hits this thread in the future looking for it. of course this is pointless if you manage to keep it up somewhere but I figured a decent solution for posterity if you decide to take it down and don't mind having it available this way.

I appreciate your effort. That's nice of you to take the time to save it that way. Certainly all the messages, comments and emails I've received (on this forum, the blog and other forums - especially on the BYOAC forum) have been nice to read and have caused me to reconsider my position.

Right now I'm thinking about the options for leaving it up as is, as well as other ways of archiving/legacy-ing it. In fact, in the couple of weeks since I stopped, I already miss doing it some, so maybe I can get comfortable with a less intense effort.

Okay, I relent. After all the good suggestions and nice words about the blog I have decided to leave it up (indefinitely). I realized that what folks said about the info not really ever getting antiquated because the games were already old to begin with and will be around forever was true.

In fact, now that I have decided to leave it up AND the pressure I felt to do a post daily is removed, I have the freedom to add things in the future when I have the time. It was very fun to do and I miss adding to it. And, to that point, I actually made a post today (about a cool site, not a GOTD).

So, it'll stay and I'll add to it from time to time (including new GOTDs) - check in when you think about it.

By the way, if you click to "follow" the blog, you get notified when there is a new post so you don't have to check it to see if there's something new.
