Don't know if this is the appropriate section or not... but here goes.

I'm trying to play a few games on Mame via a desktop computer. These specific games use a spinner control layout. These games include Taito's Field Goal and Straight Flush. (Games I'm trying to desperately find here in the states!)

Have you come across a good controller for this? Remember it's just for a desktop. I was thinking if someone modded the Atari 2600 paddle controller w/ a usb plug-in? If they don't exist already...

What do you guys use/prefer?

The Atari 2600 paddle controller uses a pot and will not spin around the way around continuously. For games that need a true spinner it spins all the way around and is not pot based. True spinners are basically a single axis trackball. Good spinners and boards to interface with a PC are available from places like Groovy Game Gear and Ultimarc. Apache Controls also makes good spinners. You may also use a spinner such as one from Tempest with a PC interface board.

I'm using a Groovy Game Gear USB spinner. You would need some kind of case to use it on a desktop, but it fits in a standard arcade button hole and is totally plug & play.
