Just wanted to show my new cabinet after about two days, probably 8 total hours of work with my dad. New to the arcade game, but saw some online and got inspired to do one and its a lot of work. haha, frustrating but fun, especially when you dont have a guide to everything and you are trying to figure everything out by reading stuff online and watching videos.

Nice woodwork, but a quick question... It may be just me, but did you use 1/2" on it or 3/4"?

thanks for the comments

first of all, what is a nightmare cab? i guess one that over does it or that looks like it was done half-a$$. the arcade cab that inspired me to do this was done by another person on here, that goes by username, martijn. he did this sick street fighter arcade system that im kinda modeling mine after.

I used 3/4 inch plywood. Everything you see there is 3/4 inch. But I bought 1/2 inch sheet of plywood for the door I am going to put in the back. Agh, i shouldve just bought the 3/4 inch but i saved like 5-12 bucks. I bought 3/4 inch plywood that was like a nice finish i think. it was at home depot for like 40 or 45 a sheet.

I plan on doing a street fighter setup, two joysticks, six buttons probably just normal straight lined up together, i saw some people do different patterns and i didnt really like most. a player 1 and player 2 button, and i was thinking of adding maybe three in a corner, for like other stuff. i heard you can use one to turn on your system, and for other stuff. i dont know, i havent got to that part yet haha.

and yeah i will keep you updated. next up is slot cuttin for t-molding then laminating it and mounting a tv.

thinking about doing an lcd so i can hook up an xbox 360 or ps3. i have a dvi connection in my computer. but also was thinking of maybe trying to find a flat tube with 2 components. maybe save some money?

any advice on that?

thanks again

Nice start. Keep the controls and art simple (but no contact paper, that looks tacky). It bugs the shit out of me to see a control panel so crowded it's hard to figure out what to use. Same with art. You don't need to have sprites from EVERY game on your marquee. :)

Then again, it's YOUR cabinet, so do what you want. Good luck and keep us posted!

Nice start
Check out BYOAC forums for projects as well, lots of really cool inspiration and help over there too.
