Hey guys not sure how many of you guys are into MAME but I am getting a MAME machine made and I have been working with the guy on custom art. I was a big fan of Darkstalkers back in the 90's and was going to use that as a central theme of the machine. I have attached pics for what I want the guy to go off of, the art has been sent to a artist to make make it an original.

the BB Hood Marquee pic, and the Warewolf would be on each side of the marquee with something along the lines of "Retro Arcade" or I was even thinking "Darkade" not sure how that sounds or not, in the Darkstalkers lettering.

The side art would be the something in the style of the collage where BB Hood is in the front with the evil shadow.

the control panel art would be similar to the collage where all the characters are lined up in a row.

I wanted to see 2 versions of the finished art. One with the original color palette with lots of reds and purples, while the second version would have it mostly black and white/smokey except for BB Hood's cape, which would be bright red to have it pop off the cab.

Give me your honest feedback on this...the photos are meant to be a guide for the artist to go from but you get the general idea of what it should look like.

While there is nothing wrong visually with any of it (they are all beautiful peices of art), it seems to lack the feeling of an arcade. I sort of gravitate to the idea that less is more. And how fewer characters on a control panel can help highlight the functions of the controls more so than a plethora of anime cartoons can do.

I agree with gozer on this, if you were having a peice of art created for the wall, then the black/white idea with just the red cape would be awesome and actually would love that myself, but for a cab, simple clean uncluttered art is better, especially for a MAME

This was the mock up he came up with for the side and Marquee. I agree, I will be doing something different for the control panel...There is way too much going on there. The marquee still needs some work..I want to see more of BB hood on the left, she is holding a Uzi but you cant see it. The werewolf needs to drop down a bit and resize to match BB, I also wanted him to add a few bats there for mood.

Again, I have no clue what I am doing when coming up with a arcade cab theme, he is putting this all together per my exacting specifications...I just know I like Darkstalkers :)
