Monitor was bought new, ran about 3 hours and shut off. Fuse good, no burns, no cracked solder. Diodes in the power supply section test good. All parts commonly found "loose" we're mounted correctly. Anyone have some ideas I could try?

Looks like the schematics pretty clearly list the secondary voltages coming out of T-3. Testing those should incriminate or clear the power supply section of the board.... I'll start there...

So I got around to powering this up for testing and it is not completely devoid of life. It is in shutdown and clicking fairly loudly. Time to check that HOT....

HOT tested bad in circuit (base to emitter short). Pulled HOT and tests good out of circuit. Tested base and emitter pads on monitor PCB with HOT removed and see them still shorted....

Started back at the power supply section testing caps. About 1 in 3 is way out of spec. Need to replace all of those before testing continues...

There are two relays on the chassis (Not counting the one for degaussing). The one on the main PCB fires first then the second one on the daughter card mounted on the fly back cage....

i see this thread and all that comes to mind is a song that says "one is the loneliest number"....;)

I was starting to think this was a hidden thread. I only spend about 15 minutes at a time when I look at this thing. My suspicion is that one of the mystery ics is shorted as i can't find any physical damage and I have looked at virtually every cap with an esr meter and all the diodes and transistors with my dmm.

I see the power come up to about 50 percent before it trips the reset. If I measure for dc voltage on the ground I see a measurable amount of voltage on the ground circuit right before each reset...
