I picked up a Buck Hunter Safari the other day with a Makvision m2929d monitor in it.
It was sold to me as playing blind so I did not expect anything out of the monitor.

I turned on the machine and let it run while I did some general cleanup/maintenance and the monitor eventually turned on with the following picture:

My question is this: is this a capkit/flyback fix or something deeper?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't think the flyback will do anything for you. Your image looks decent as far as the flyback is concerned. caps, maybe. Those caps are literally the cheapest slugs of aluminum and toilet water money could buy. Pretty crazy looking image though.

I appreciate the input!

Looks like I will be capping this one soon then!

Anyone have any tricks as to the best way to get this beast out of the cabinet? I took the front panel off but I still cannot get the cable mounted to the front of the chassis!

i have a couple of bbh safari and they have to come out the front and they are heavy. i did a couple cap kits on mine (approx 68 caps) so i have them if you need but they are not listed on my site. let me know if you need them and i also broke them into 2 kits to cover all the variations so it makes it easier for the customer.

You will have to take the monitor completely out the front. No real way to get just the chassis out. Just take your time and make sure you figure out how to get all the cables clear. Have some help when you lift it out, the badboy weighs north of 160 pounds.

You could just remove the chassis

At least for the first try after the caps.

Then remove monitor if needed.

You may see some bad caps in the power supply

but still need to replace them all.

Its not to bad easy to get at caps.

don't forget to look at the HV wire for cuts

need to keep clear of yoke pins.

Just remove the cap and write it down then replace with the same value.

There are different version need full model number for reference later.

Good Luck!
