As you may have seen in a couple of my other threads, I've been working on refurbishing my Pole Position upright. I'm down to the final piece : the display!

As a noob buyer, I didn't realize it had been retrofitted with a Makvision monitor. The 1519CH203

A couple observations/concerns.

1. The frame doesn't mount quite the same way as a factory G07. As I am still searching for (or will be making my own) a cardboard bezel, I suspect it won't fit quite right as I think the display sits back a bit further than than the Electrohome would. I'll figure that out later.

2. Most concerning is the colors. The road is green, not grey. I can't seem to get it adjusted so that the race track displays grey! Has anyone ever had success with this monitor and Pole Position?

3. I have a NOS WG TPG, but the video cables don't fit this Makvision. I suppose I could craft an DB9 to 5 pin cable. Or would one of CraftyMech's TPG's be work?

Should I just try and find the proper monitor and un-hack the cables?

It's amazing how little the newer monitors work with these original early 80's games.

Have you tried another monitor just for giggles? Make sure it's not a board issue?

I have another monitor I could test with, though would still have to rewire a molex connector. I probably should do that.

You can see where they spliced in the video connectors. Just undo the wire nuts and pin your own std Atari one. Bit of work but I'd least you'd narrow down PCB vs monitor issue.

I have not adjusted anything on the neck board yet. I'll give that a shot. Thanks for the suggestion!

Edit. I've been looking for documentation on the monitor and haven't found anything yet. I didn't even realize until just now while looking at my neck board photo that there was a Green adjustment pot on it! 🤦‍♂️

like was said above adjust your green gain and bias. if that doesn't help or cannot be adjusted to compromise your tube may need a rejuve

Put some Deoxit on the neck board pots and then made some adjustments. Much better!

Now I just need to craft a cardboard bezel and I then we'll be done.
